Today’s Question: QotD: How old is your oldest binder?
Helpful considerations: It can legally drink? Only the latest release? Something about rings and cracking plastic binders really makes the hobby feel cozy?
I dont have my actual childhood binder, but my wife still has hers from the 1999-2004 era judging from the cards in it, and basic scuff of her binder. Its super nostalgic.
I am still on the hunt for it in Grandma’s basement, no joke. My mother has totes on totes of stuff and I can vividly remember this blue plastic-like binder with yellow trip, zip closure. At the time, my younger brother liked to get stoned so both Ash and Pikachu are high (thanks red sharpie). I hope to find that sucker and what, if any, cards are in it.
26 years old I guess. Got it not too longer after my first couple of booster packs/decks, so I guess when I was almost or just 8 years old. I had a blue Charmander binder and my little brother a red Pikachu binder. Both are unused and empty in a drawer, though.
I do use a silver Lugia binder (that’s also roughly 25 years old) for my non-TCG Seviper stickers/flats nowadays.

This held my whole collection basically from 2000-2020. These days it’s a gallery of common and uncommon WOTC era cards from my childhood, super nostalgic every time I look through it.
But I emptied my UltraPro Collectors Binder last week. I think it been purchased in 1999 or 2000. It’s one of those 3 ring ones. I kept my old DBZ CCG in it. The binder was always in the way so in past few weeks I’ve been emptying all pages and sleeving each card. I have now 3 ETBs full with single sleeved cards. Dang… I still had so much. Time to sell it off, and put the funds into some Bulbasaur cards
MY parents lost my OG binder with my full 1st edition sets when I moved from WA to CA as a kid, and was too traumatized to restart. Waited until I got my first bonus checks and bought a complete binder of the OG 151. WIll never let it go since it’s basically my “replacement.”
This is my first binder. It originally stored My whole collection but my collection quickly outgrew this binder and I then used it to store my spare rare cards for trades. I’d take it to school and friend’s houses rather than bring my full binder. It currently has some Topps cards inside.
When my collection outgrew the above binder, I got the one on the left. This was my main Pokemon binder up until around 2012. The other two I purchased later on for overflow. These now have nothing stored in them as I don’t like using ring binders. But I’d never get rid of my original two binders.
The actual binder or the cards inside? My childhood cards have all been transferred from a shoebox where they were kept in stacks with rubber bands around them. They now live in a nice modern VaultX binder
