QotD: Do you feel the need for duplicates of your favorite cards?

Yup! for chase cards I try to get 2 if feasible. 1 to trade or sell down the road and one for keeps.

For cheap ARs and commons I really like I try to have at least 3. One to keep and the others to keep or giveaway or to do whatever with.

Generally will get English and Japanese but on full arts prefer S Chinese since that text takes up the least space on the card and need to shop that language more

uh…yeah

anyhow sometimes if its some super cheap card and looks awesome…why not?

For all of 2 seconds I tried a 4 pocket binder that would house my favorite IR cards from SV era sets. each page being 4 of my favorite card from each set. But then pokemon pocket happened and prices on some of my favorites went through the roof. The real sticking point was the groudon IR. But before those days, man I was scooping up my favorites for like $2-$5 looking for the cleanest one to put in my binder.

Sometimes I really can’t help myself. I’ve recently fixated on another card that fits my criteria perfectly recently. Inexpensive, no hype, cool and unique art.

Not really. Though for the dupes I do have, I just can’t seem to let them go. :))

Pulled these two myself back in the day while I was actively hunting for the card. When Shining Legends was a bargain bin set, lol. Getting the second one ultimately inspired me to start a Grandmaster+ set with all the related promos and such. The first one resides in my main binder’s Mewtwo page.

I also got this Southern Islands Mew and Flareon EX from a trade last year.

I have been trying to get rid of these. Either for cash or another trade. Not really in a rush, though!

The problem isn´t so much Dunsparce. Dunsparce was actually a cool troll PokÊmon. The problem is more that they made the same joke again 20 years later.

That´s like asking someone to get in your car, then driving away as they aproach, and doing that same thing again a few miles further.

What´s more, the possibilities with an evolution for Dunsparce were endless.

I used to like have duplicates of things I collected but then everything started to go up a lot in price and I learned that I’d rather have the funds to buy more thing for my collection than have duplicates. Only exception to this is my non-DM era Yugioh cards and that is only because you need multiples to make decks look pretty.

That Articuno is such a minty looking card. Best Fossil card (along with the Lapras) imo.

As for the topic, yes;

Those are different though: 1st edition and unlimited edition with error. Unless you meant to say you got a lot more of both of those.

Then again, I saw your Ho-Oh post in the recent purchase thread, so I guess you do indeed have some (amazing) duplicates.

You got me there. The same artwork, but different cards.

And thanks!

I don’t have a need to have duplicates of my favorite cards.I do have some duplicates mostly as @Quuador when they overlap binder collections, like illustration rares that are also 4’11", or cards that go in my Artist binders and illustration rare binder or spices binder. I do have many radiant Greninja (my signature card) though, in different languages or stamp/sets.

I’m too deep in the variant game to seriously go for duplicates, outside the few absolute top bangers that i want to stare in my display every day, just look at it
