This milestone further accelerates PSA’s worldwide footprint. Joining established hubs in Santa Ana (CA), New Jersey, Boca Raton (FL), and Tokyo (Japan), the Plano facility strengthens the network ahead of the launch of PSA Europe in Frankfurt, Germany, which is set to become fully operational later this year.
PSA’s Plano location operates independently within the same complex as Beckett, leveraging the Collectors organization’s ecosystem to meet demand.
BGS submissions are up but the difference is 700k more per month sent to PSA and 70k more per month to BGS since acquisition. PSA has added the equivalent of 10 BGS’s in terms of volume since it was acquired. For every BGS card graded there are 17 PSA cards.
The tough thing for competitors is even established companies like BGS just don’t have the necessary demand. I had a potential BGS purchase of less than 100 copies of the same popular Japanese exclusive promo card all in BGS 9.5-10. The deal never happened because prices fell from just a couple weeks of auctioning a handful of copies. Even without PSA buying Beckett, the demand is just not deep enough to grow. I really wanted to do the deal, but its just not viable.
Anyway this new PSA office is just going to further that inertia, but to end on a positive note, my orders have been processing during the value closure. This is definitely much better than the 2020 shut down.
I don’t believe you can choose a particular facility. All orders get shipped to Santa Ana and then from there are dispersed to the other facilities. I live on the west coast and have had multiple submissions end up in New Jersey and Florida.
