I would like to second the above advice. If you’re using a grading middle man, he’s taking a fee. Don’t bother unless you’re going to be submitting a very small number of cards within a year’s time. You’re likely even better off splitting a membership with a friend than using the middle man, as the fees would be smaller. But don’t hesitate to take the plunge and utilize an account of your own if PSA grading it something you’re particularly interested in putting into.
Thanks very much for the advice, if I can reslab the 8 cards without a membership for that price I’ll definitely do that one myself. I think at this stage it’s unlikely I will be joining PSA to submit cards in the mid-long term so getting a membership isn’t really favourable. Unless I get together a bunch of cards to grade only with intentions to sell afterwards to recoup the money spent. That’s not a bad idea. I don’t mind giving the middle man a nice bonus if he or she would get my single card regraded for me, assuming it’s much cheaper than getting a membership of course.
Agreeing with @fourthstartcg You really only need a membership for “grading services” otherwise if your only intention is to re-slab cards you should be able to navigate around their site to find out how to do it for non members, as the 1 off re-grade I would suggest using Ludkins collectibles as a middle man for PSA services (He’s based out of the UK) and correct both of these are handled by 2 different departments but should be submitted in at the same time to save on the cost of shipping.
Thanks @thorgene, Ludkins is the guy I initially contacted and at first he didn’t even believe that you could send the slab to PSA to be regraded and thought you had to crack it open yourself first. After that he seemed reluctant and quoted me a really high price but in my opinion he just didn’t really want to do it, which is fine. I just asked him again for confirmation for a price and I’ll see what he says this time as I was asking him all sorts of questions and quotes before.
Probably not since im about to buy 5, 1st edition charizards for 10$ each from a construction worker who found them along with another 800+ cards in toploaders in a basement he was remodeling. Eat that right up. there there dont drop an ounce of this.
That’s odd, it seems like a vet such as himself would know about that. if it helps the option is here
Reholder, is the option you want when submitting in cards for new slabs.
@thorgene is that for a ‘re-grade from a slab’ or simply re-holdering? Not that it means much to me as I wont be the one doing this part! Ludkins just told me he has a new price list which he’s going to send me now I guess so I will see what he says.
Glad that got your attention, my point being you should probably seek asylum else where if all you plan on doing is trying to shit on the idea of getting cards graded, and again I’m not sure how many times this has been pointed out to you that this is forum exists solely as a community to help others. So you coming in and barging in on @xuzu 's thread and saying “THIS” is as useful as a dead rat on the side the road. On top of that you even failed to fully quote @kkthxbai on his comment *smh*
As for your Charizards your getting (yay) I’m sure that a huge milestone for someone of your caliber.
@xuzu I would recommend sending the cards in directly to PSA yourself. There aren’t any specials for reholder orders, and as for the regrade, you can use a middleman but they would probably only be willing to help if they already had a bunch of cards to regrade during their next submission. As was mentioned, since it is a seperate service than grading raw cards, there would be separate shipping costs involved and PSA charges a minimum of $18usd for return shipping… not many people would want to cover that $18 shipping cost on just one card
Why would that be wasting money? please elaborate.
That’s funny I could say the same about you, keep us posted with all those 1st edition zards, I can hardly wait.
