PSA 10 has white Marks on the Back

I have a graded card in a psa 10 that has these white marks on the back right side but I don’t see the scans. Its a 10 cert so its relatively new and its a card from sun and moon tag team so i am surprised to see these marks.
I bought this card from a friend and was wondering if this is normal? Was this already on the card before it was incased? I don’t see it in the scans but maybe its the lighting? Was hoping someone had some knowledge about this.

PSA Scans of the card

This is not normal. White substances that show up over time are likely due to improper storage (e.g., mildew, mold).

its hard to believe that mildew or mold made it into a slab to be honest. And I don’t think mildew is perfectly white like that. Also this thread seems to suggest it is very hard to mold to survive and grow so much like that in a slab Mold or dust? - #9 by nwahsssss

You have two options here:

  1. The grime was there when the card was encased originally. The images don’t suggest this and neither does the grade, but scans can sometimes obscure damage and grading errors occur.

  2. The grime is new (i.e., mildew, mold, etc.).

Either situation is not ideal. Nobody will be able to tell you with certainty what it is, but we can say that it’s not normal for substances to develop on cards over time. Most folks who are paranoid about mold have minor amounts of dust in their slab, but those scenarios don’t often look like what you shared.

I’ve seen mold grow in PSA slabs before. Although rare, it can happen with improper storage. This is one of those cases where I wouldn’t be shocked if it actually was mildew or mold beginning to grow.

this thread on reddit it seems to be when the sonic weld it? Because its related to the white squares.
There are white squares near my card as well.

It doen’t show up the scans either. I’m suspecting they scan it before welding it shut to QC. That way they can check the slab through images one last time then they finally weld it shut for good.

Here is a video

It looks to be on the slab as one on the left side starts from the slab as well.

But none of this including the white squares are in the scans at all. So mostly it was after the took photos during the welding process.

PSA scans after encapsulation and from your video that looks like mold/mildew

Are you 100% sure about that PSA scans after encapsulating?
Why do the white squares never show up in the scan?

yes https://www.psacard.com/articles/articleview/10241/psa-update-journey-card

and mostly lighting. White lighting will cover up white blemishes

These outlined in yellow are the white squares from reddit that they are talking about.

Your card seems to have different issues than sonic welding.

I also have white squares as seen in the video. My point is though that the white squares I have seen on muliple cards i have gotten from PSA and they never show up in the scans. Which makes me wonder if the white squares are on the card after it is scanned somehow.

Also another thread that goes over this. And looks similar. Has an entire youtube video of the guy cracking the card out of the case (8k psa 10 card O_O) .

He was able to wipe it off but took a lot of water and wiping. And it happened again somehow after he got it regraded.
