This is what a wire cut card with 45 year old card stock looks like straight from a pack. This was also a “modern” card when grading began. The current cardstock/technology didn’t exist. I think it’s fair to understand that newer cards today are the nth degree of 10, while vintage is still within the same grade range. Now how to put that in practice and train someone from scratch is a different story.
I see the argument. I think I need to think more on the topic. I think there is something that is distinct between this example and, say, silvering on a Jungle holo.
I’ve noticed, for some reason, the vmaxes that don’t have a border on the top they’re more lenient on. I’ve cracked a lot of them and they’ve come back 10s. Maybe it’s certain graders??
Honestly I wouldn’t. It’s a common area to have some whitening on neo4s but that one is quite large. Id say this is a nice 8 from the front - but then the back has quite a bit of whitening on the corners and around the right edge.
coupled with financial interests in that narrative. Im happy to continue pretending they’re all the same and PSA will never change but I just found this thread funny with how a simple title change can diffuse everyone’s opinion
I think the market already reflects that notion…or at least people are more aware and people buying cards now are more aware that the conditions could be different (of an older cert Vs new certs) and therefore pay more for a cleaner copy (aka newer certs may get more of a premium).
