PSA 10 1st ed Base holos have little pop growth since 2018

Yeah I was mainly just talking about the high pop non holos. Beedrill is pretty damn expensive nowadays as it should be. I remember buying mine for like $400 and it was high at the time

Maybe if I’m bored today I’ll write down the % change in pop growth of each card over the past year.

We already knew which of those were PSA 10 (as per data above), so of those these were the ones with new PSA 9 additions:

2x Zapdos-Holo (Pokemon Game 2000 - 1st Edition-Italian)

No cards in this timeframe received PSA 9 grades with a qualifier (e.g. 9(OC)) .

I wish I had data which went all the way back to 2018, but for now I’ve only started periodically polling the data since starting this thread just over 2 weeks ago.

As long as Pokemon is popular, 1st Edition Base will be in demand. Even for people born after Base, what created what you love is always going to be relevant. Kids who are Star Wars fans are going to watch the original trilogy. Kids who are passionate about RPGs are going to want to play Chrono Trigger, FFVII, etc. The true classics transcend nostalgia.

As nice as your comments are I know for a fact you’re enjoying this like Shkreli when he raised the price of Daraprim :joy:

He raised it by a factor of 50+, right? So the new ask for a PSA 10 Zard is roughly ~ $2 million. Market is strong, so that price point seems fair to me but what do I know.

Since I last updated this on January 10th, PSA has obviously spent some weeks closed due to COVID-19. But there was an additional 2.5 months of data prior to when they closed (I’m not sure if they’ve begun grading cards again since March 20th).

In that time, a grand total of 2 PSA 10 1st ed Base holos have been added to the population - a Gyarados and a Zapdos. (There were also 6 Machamps added but again for all we know all of those were actually Unlimited Machamps)

The population growth of these cards in PSA 10 condition has slowed to a crawl.

And with the price of the packs soaring even higher lately, it’s hard to see this trend changing. (History being made in the Pokecave aside)

That may be true, but I predict steady growth in first edition machamp
