However, I’ve looked through all of the publicly available information on PCNY, including other e4 threads and the list of PCNY merch at the archival website (EXCLUSIVE MERCHANDISE – The Pokémon Center New York Historical Website) and there are no photos. Is there any reason for me to doubt its authenticity?
Can you post more photos of it? Front, back, interior, etc? That would help a lot. ALSO, one thing to note from the site you linked:
" *Note: This page is in NO WAY a complete list of all of the merchandise that was available at the store. Most of the merchandise sold at PCNY is still a mystery, since it was never officially documented anywhere… well, until now! This section is a work-in-progress."
Good chance it is legit and is just not on there. Post more pics for us, and if we think its authentic, you can send the info along to the people of that site to add.
Can chime in here and say yes im 99.9 percent sure its authentic.
That being said though, do note pcny is probably imo one of the most poorly documented pokemon centers in regard to nearly everything when comparing it to pc japan. A lot of the info regarding it typically comes only from word of mouth, and a lot of the collectors in that sphere giving said information usually poor in a lot of emotions to it as well, this leading to the possibility of skewed things. Its not good or bad of course, but its good to note to take everything said or shown with a grain of salt.
Back to the box, pretty sure ive seen that box before along with a larger brown card holder as well, and a matching playmat but i cant really comment on its exact release. Fake pcny merch isnt really a thing too, so the odds of someone slapping down a fake deck box kinda seems slim. So id just enjoy it and extend a congrats on the cool collection piece!!!
Thanks so much @octaane@Dizzle for the info! Box isn’t in my hands yet, but the rest of the ebay photos give me a lot of confidence that it’s legit. I’m stoked to keep searching around for other PCNY items that may not have been documented thus far.
