Which one did you get? Or can wait to tell us when you get it
Welp, I tried bidding on some of these test prints, but no wins. Should have been more aggressive. Bummer
My watchlist is full so I started adding items to my cart
Love the suggested items
As someone with limited care and interest these prices dont seem to bad. Ive most definitely spent more on less haha
i thought it was cool. I bid $500 on all the eveelutions and lost them all. Bid on like 15 in total but only won 1, which is fine, stuff like this as long as I get one of it, it’s like owning something very unique and neat within pokemon history. The cut itself is garbage though, def looks hand-cut with a damn pair of scissors.
what is the alleged story here? I’m not that excited to begin with so I doubt it will ruin anything but you got my curiousity
The story as I no it was that he got one set professionally cut for him self then hand cut the rest of the sheet out.
lollll so he’s rocking 9s and 10s and everyone else gets these derpy 3s -5.5s.
That’s kinda funny. IDK why you wouldn’t get both factory cut though, woulda made a lot more money
Holla when you’re putting the next batch up on auction.
Wow, I can’t believe some of these went so high. That Flareon CGC 6 cut looks terrible.
I tried to win the 6 but it went for $860. Wish I woulda bid on the 5 that ended at 626 ;(
Would be amazing to get Himeno to sign/sketch on it.
My thoughts exactly. These went for nothing. And I don’t mean “$500 isn’t a lot of money” — it is. But this did not generate anywhere near the excitement of even some set cards. In the scheme of Pokémon cards these were a steal. $500 is very low for a “one of a kind” item, regardless of its perceived legitimacy.
Agreed. I was shocked I was able to get the one I wanted for less than a modem Moonbreon. My max bid was way higher.
As long as people keep buying these, this behavior from sellers will continue.
Sellers will keep selling things if buyers keep buying? What behavior?
Cutting sheets/ripping boxes
The sheet cutting doesn’t really offend me as it does many (which I can see their points)
Probably just because I wouldn’t want the sheet or it’s contents regardless
I had to grab a couple for myself. The ones I got were cut better than the rest. In truth, I do care about the whole story behind these but it’s minimized by how unique and cool these cards are. Test prints are just so awesome there’s no denying it.
Precisely. Take a look at the tone of this thread. What this guy did, purposefully or out of ignorance, is looked down upon and not really condoned.
Don’t buy stuff from people who do this and you remove the motive for this behavior - making money.
EDIT: For anyone doom scrolling at a later date. I hit the grey “reply” button to last post (at the time of reading) rather than red “reply” to the thread as a whole. This wasn’t a direct reply to Wisewailmer. He’s good people.
I just want to remind everyone here that Pokemon is a multi billion dollar IP that is notorious for often not giving a shit about the wants/requests of collectors, not to mention their artists and workers. To have some sort of cornball loyalist attitude like you’re “respecting” or “honoring” Pokemon the IP by only buying a card that is “properly cut and distributed” vs a rare test sheet that is sold by a factory worker or past executive is silly. Just go collect set cards if that’s your M.O. but you aren’t doing Pokemon any favors nor do they care (outside of when they have to deal with ppl emailing them with complain-campaigns).
If you guys were worried about Pokemon’s “feelings” when it comes to card collecting, then you’d be whining about any collectors here that purchased an Ishihara-GX promo since it was given to staff at a birthday party and was never meant for distribution to us regular folks. You’d be complaining about the 25th anniversary creatures decks which were only given to a choice few employees. You’d be complaining about the Art Academy and illustration cards that were only given out to a few winners, and you’d be complaining about the trophy cards that were only “meant” to stay in the hands of the people who won those tournaments and prices. Reality Check - some people were and are still actively complaining about others buying/owning these items. That’s some goofy ass shit and we’ve had to watch people try to gate keep those things for years until collectors slowly warmed up to the idea of owning them. Now, that toxicity has leaked into signed cards with the claim that only the person who originally spent the 5 racks on hotels and flights and waiting in line should be able to own them. It’s nonsense. Just stop, and collect what YOU like without worrying about what OTHER people spend their money on. It isn’t “bad behavior”. Pokemon doesn’t feel “betrayed” or “disrespected”. It’s a 20+ yr old prototype that some past exec or factory worker kept instead of tossing in the trash and now some of us get to own a piece of it. This entitlement that sheets need to be kept in their complete form as if that was a Pokemon-ordained intention is GOOFY goofy. Not everyone likes sheets, even if they can afford them. A lot of people like collecting these items in card-form. It’s not that serious. Not everyone cares about money lost by poor little multi billion dollar Pokemon the IP that didn’t intend for the sheet or prototype or trophy or award or prize card or promo or signed card to ever be sold/resold. When you buy these items you’re often supporting the people that actually matter - those tournament winners, artists, factory workers, executives, volunteers, and so on that are in the financial position that they need to sell these items to pay for real-life use-cases such as buying a home or supporting their families. I promise you, its a better feeling knowing you’ve supported one of these people than some multinational conglomerate, where aftermarket card sales is a blip on the radar.
