The wild part of the story, if true, is that this person sacrificed profit so that no one else can have a clean copy. They deem their own copies as less valuable if someone else can also own similar copies. So they take on a financial cost so that others pay a cost on condition. It’s the definition of spite, that’s what makes it so despicable.
They are going so much higher than I was expecting. The story (if true) turned me off to them, but it will be interesting to see where they land. I wonder if they will reach $800-1k for the better cut ones.
“I’m the person who cut the sheet pictured. I acquired the sheet several years ago, along with another sheet that was already torn in half. I divided the torn sheet into individual parts and sold them for $100-200 each. When I offered the intact sheet to high-end collectors, I received very low offers, which led me to decide to cut it up. However, I have no experience in this and unfortunately made mistakes. I’m confused by the various stories circulating, as none of them are accurate. I still have the remaining cards, which I intend to sell in the future.”
i like the uniqueness of the cards. its a shame there is such negativity around them, let alone altering the uncut sheet. NFC cards will never sit right with a lot of collectors, but there will always be poeple in the hobby that could care less. Interested to see where the cleaner cut cards will land price wise
