Problem with the US Postal Service

If you’re asking about my most recent claims, they varied from two to six weeks. The odd thing was, the claims on the most egregious examples (boxes that had been opened and pilfered by postal employees) took the longest to resolve. Maybe the USPS was investigating those more carefully so they could build solid cases for termination.

The incident involving 300+ packages took about four months to resolve.

fffffffff that

I have an update!

The seller was kind enough to send another pair of cards, but unfortunately, this time it went to the Solomon Islands… Really unsure how that happened, but I find it a bit humorous haha. I guess it doesn’t matter if they ever show up, though, because my original package arrived today! They must have either resolved it by finding it or it just moved on through on it’s own. Anyway, I’m still unhappy with how they handled it, but at least the cards arrived safely!

What was the total time in transit??

Just over 3 months. It was in the states since early November, too.

I think two aspects should be added to this discussion. One, USPS is much better with outgoing mail than incoming. I would venture to say that most countries post system are similar in this regard. The biggest dilemma in international mail is customs. Customs is a jungle. I had an express package sit for almost a month, and then it was delivered out of the blue.

The second aspect is that the USPS has increased their quality control in the past couple years. Their standards pre mainstream internet days were nowhere near their slightly better current standards.

At the end of the day, UPS, FedEX or another prominent private company is always the best solution. However, you pay for that quality, and the price point is not there for the average individual.

Bingo!!!
Everybody reread Scotts post. It’s dead on.

Not sure if UPS simply drops packages at the door like they do here in the states. That’s worrisome.

United Parcel Service in Japan is outstanding — probably because the service is outsourced to Yamato. You haven’t experienced first-class delivery service until you’ve experienced Yamato or one of Japan’s other private couriers. I can arrange door-to-door, time-appointed delivery with a smile to anywhere in the country for around $10.

Wow…that’s high praise. Wish we had such a service here.

I always say to my friends that Japan has the most impressive Postal Service I have ever dealt with. Glad to see locals think so as well.
