I bought this card for 20 bucks three months ago, it says it shipped but the shipping never updated and the card never arrived. The dude‘s been dragging me along for a while. I’ve been way too patient. I reported that I never received it and they just ignored me instead of refunding And now Ebay closed the case and I can’t do anything?
Basically, they’re claiming that the post office lost it and that’s my problem
If it shows never delivered, you are refunded, I don’t see a situation in which it doesn’t show delivered and eBay “closed the case” but maybe I’m reading this wrong.
Like Kijamon said, because you did not escalate it, it auto-closed. You can use their chat or their phone number. Say whatever you want to prompt a phone call, and then just tell the real person the issue.
I’m sorry about this. Fwiw other commenters are right - the last time I spoke to an eBay human on the phone (like June) she told me explicitly that basically the second there’s a problem, escalate and keep escalating, give the seller no grace period at all. And I was like that seems…harsh? And she told me no the default SOP at eBay is if the buyer doesn’t immediately report and keep the case active, they’ll close it
Every time I try and get a real person on the phone, it just auto prompts me through everything and then sends me a link to file some sort of complaint, but it’s never anything that results in talking to someone. Ebay is pretty frustrating to me.
Usally there is a way to have eBay call you. Somewhere in the contact us or need help section at the very bottom of the website.
I had a similar sale like this. A guy bought $160 worth of cards and I packaged them all together. USPS lost it in transit. I asked him to be a little more patient since I opened a missing mail case and usally that ends up with the package being delivered. Fast forward a month and nothing happens. He opens cases on each card and eBay closes them 3 days later with no refund because he waiting too long. I open a case with USPS and get the money from the $100 insurance coverage and refund him. But I feel like a lot of people would have been slimy about it and just try to leave it without refunding. Hopefully eBay will side with you if you can get on the phone.
Then click the little chat window icon in the bottom right and just spam “speak to an agent” and it should put you through to someone or get someone to call you
That’s if there’s delivery confirmation in tracking. Without it, you have the usual 30 days from the last estimated date of delivery to report the item hasn’t arrived, then you can give the seller up to 21 business days after opening the case before it’s automatically closed with no activity
you have to escalate to ebay as soon as it allows it. it will auto close in the sellers favor if you dont do anything since the money back guarantee is only valid for 30 days
This is what happened to me over the summer. The seller sent the wrong item, immediately claimed they’d send the right one, then after the 3 day Grace passed they disappeared and eBay was like yeah don’t be nice
Yeah I had a similar thing happen, and ebay customer service told me the same thing they told @DarthEevee :
I still give packages as much time as possible to arrive using the 30 day window, but I also message the seller around 20-25 days after the estimated delivery date to let them know I have to open a case soon and then set reminders.
