Price check PSA 8 1st Edition Base Charizard

Those sold prices are spanning over 2 months, and I’m sure the more expensive was a “strong” grade as sellers like to advertise, and the cheaper ones were more off-center or something. I still don’t see why anyone would pay more than the highest sold price there though? Gary also take into account that some of those cards sold, and the seller never received payment. Just because it says “sold” on eBay does not mean it was a completed transaction. Plenty of people putting in offers for high end cards just to mess with the market and sellers time.

@kpod, Availability might be a factor. I haven’t paid close attention to the 8’s, but a higher price might be when less were available.

I fully agree with that too. The most expensive one in the screenshot may have sold when it was the only one on eBay, thus commanding a premium over the normal selling price.

Wrong again. Two of those were mine at one point and they were basic 8 quality. I rarely get requests for info beyond the listing. To the VAST majority of collectors, the grade is the grade.
Now are they smart? Yeah, I’d say they are.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread and helped me make the decision to hang on to the card. I appreciate all of your contributions and I guess market value is an interesting topic it seems.

Just on a side note. New job and house has meant that I’ve had much less time for pokemon and the forum but it brings a smile every time I come back. Hope everyone is well and your collections are bringing you happiness and enjoyment

I’d just like to add there are many foreign buyers that happily pay a small premium to avoid import taxes and duties. They’re also more confident buying from a reputable seller than some random person from ebay/social media.

The person who was interested in my card was local and wanted to buy from someone in Aus so that is def a factor.

if you can I would suggest holding on to it. That card is the holy grail, not many people have the pleasure of owning that.
