gosh, these are a big want of mine… more than an illustrator card. I want it to go with my n64 collection together one day.
I hope to finish a set one eventually, but probably am dreaming… >.<’’
it’s amazing how poorly produced these were, and being given to kids, they weren’t well looked after generally i assume.
Does anyone know who owns all those pikachu’s?

Apart from that, i guess i will post this here.
I was able to visit and meet Sasaki in person; he was the winner of the poliwag cards which appeared recently on YJA.
Very happy he had time for a coffee, and to chat. I had to meet him on the border of the countryside near where i reside in Japan currently. It’s within Saitama region. He is a giant guy (for a japanese), really big, with glasses, and quite strong. He drives Japan subway trains, which i thought was an awesome gig. Very respected in Japan.
Nevertheless, he brought his remaining cards out for me to inspect; and yeah, it was slim pickings… Everything was damaged in some way or another. Creasing, nail marks, edge wear, front and back, off centering, edge shimmering, and staining. Most were off center which is probably apparent for many of the others snap promos printed at the time.
Was able to get a cool photo of the cards; doubt would ever get to see so many in one place again.
He will be listing a couple more on YJA soon, but they will probably have some corner creasing. I think he is getting harassed by all sorts of collectors, but he is extremely busy. So just need to be patient for him to list the last ones on YJA slowly.
The copy i received is borderline 9, it’s just off center, and has a very minor whitening on one front corner.
Omg what a story! Thanks for posting this! Wish I knew you were going to see him. I would have asked you to get a nice copy for me Atleast I now know he has some left, thanks to you
Well according to your assessment of the remaining cards conditions, he must have sent me a pretty good copy then! He must have sold through them fast! If your on the fence about buying on I would get them before they are gone. Snap cards are notoriously hard to come by.
