I don’t think there is truly a bad mainline Pokemon game, sure some are better than others and personally I’m not huge fan of Chibi style they have done couple of times but I’ve still played most of them.
I would absolutely love to create a list but I still need to play Emerald, Platinum and Black or White 2.
Everyone speaks highly of them so I’ll get to it.
I mean, have you played ruby/sapphyre? or not even those
Forcing double battles, but not to mention, then giving you the most baller starters the franchise has ever seen! (pun INtended!)
Not a big fan of the 6th generation games, and I tend to prefer the remastered games (with the exception of Lets Go games). My hot take is that Ultra Sun/Moon would be viewed as one of the best games if the original Sun/Moon never happened. It’s also one of if not the hardest of them during the main story (since Pokemon games inherently aren’t that hard). I also started in gen 4 so I don’t have nostalgic ties to the originals, but I still can appreciate what they’ve accomplished and they’re fun to play through. I hated Yellow though lol. If BW2 had an Emerald-esque battle frontier it would be the best game imo.
Here are the games I’ve played. And considering I pretty much maxed out the time played on most of these titles I feel like a harsh critic.
I think the consensus is that we all didn’t enjoy the Let’s Go games
Yeah, Ruby and Sapphire would top my list.
I actually did haha
I enjoyed them a lot. I just enjoyed them less than some others.
where would you place BDSP PLA and SV in the list?
Pretty easy honestly. Third versions are superior, PSS was good, but I sorely miss the ability to max out each stats EVS using the generation 1 and 2 Stat EXP system, because minmaxing is gross. ORAS salvages RS but isn’t all that replayable according to friends. Was gifted both X and Moon when those games came out but I could not stand to play more than 2 hours and still be in tutorial so I never bothered, left a sour taste and now B2W2 are the most “modern” games I’ve played and won’t touch anything modern.
Ooh, good question!?
BDSP would probably sit at the bottom of D-Tier; best place for the worst remakes of the franchise.
PLA would slot in between Emerald & Crystal in the S-Tier. It was the first truly fresh storyline in the series since Gen 3, and finally gave us a taste of what an open world Pokémon game could be.
SV is a tricky one…It had more substance than X&Y, and gave us a bigger everything than SwSh, but the glitches and lack of postgame outside the DLC means it has to come in way below BW. So I’d probably put it middle of B-Tier, just below Let’s Go (those games were simple, but damn if they weren’t charming!).
