Pocket monster yellow question

Hey there! I was wondering what the very first print was for the original Japanese pocket monster games. I always thought if the cartridge has an A, it’s a reprint. I found this website that has a log of the print runs. I’m confused because it seems this “first print” in the first 2 photos has the ROM chip of the Entry 2 (cartridge with A imprinted). Did they just come with random ROM chips/Mappers? I’ll link the website link down below to show the entry’s I’m talking about. The Pokemon silver seems to have the same situation.

I would message the guy who owns the Game Boy data base website. I’m a Game Boy collector, but this is too deep cut for me. The chip number on your Mapper also appears to be in a different number format than either of the examples on that website. :man_shrugging:

I know you’re talking about Yellow instead of Red & Green, but maybe the linked blog-post here is useful, since it also explains which cartridges are older than others:

I honestly don’t know anything about the GameBoy games, so I’m not of much use here.
