People angry at the current Pokémon prices

I see a lot of angry people on social media and in YouTube comments talking about the current rise in Pokémon card prices. They even go as far as blaming the big poketubers and accusing them of colluding to hike up the prices and I find it very ridiculous.

There is no need to be this salty about the current prices. If you don’t agree with the current prices it’s very simple, just don’t buy.

I get cancerous tags almost daily. Some people are so butthurt they make libel/defamation statements. It’s pure delusion. I honestly can’t believe these people are actually adults.

Whenever I see this it reminds me of the same squabbling, bitching and fighting that took place in the playground over these cards 20 years ago. I guess every aspect of this hobby has its nostalgia, hah.

This thread needs no other response. @elvisoak, hit the nail right on the head.

Have a great weekend everyone!

If they owned them already and then got the price increase it would be a different story. I want to own a lot of classic cars including a 1967 Shelby GT500 but moaning about the price wont get me it, I guess to some it makes them feel better for a moment?

Its not readily available groceries that you are buying

My reaction to anyone that doesn’t like prices is. Go buy something else. Or how would they like it if their collection went to 1/3 value over night. Salt that up haha. Sometimes I wish that would happen temporarily to eliminate some of the collectors that act entitled to cards acting like brats

I mean poketubers definitely are one of the many factors that influenced the rise of price in many cards, no doubt about that. But going to the stretch on blaming them is a bit too much.

It is not as simple as saying “if you dont agree , dont buy” . It’s baffling that in the timeframe of 2 months cards that were buyable(and im talking more entry lvl stuff, not even high end collection) are totally out of reach for a lot of people, mostly for all the influx of newcomers.

Tbh if i jumped into this hobby with these prices i wouldn’t collect at all but to actually blame people for these prices or flooding personal inboxes with insults and such is even worse.

Also is important to make a road for newcomers, so they understand why the f** an unlimited wotc card without any grade can cost $200+ and a PSA9 unlimited 1000+ so they understand what and where to start collecting.

Hearing all this makes me really glad I don’t do social media. The shitposting on efour these days is bad enough.

Wow, you mean I actually have a choice in whether or not I want to purchase these cards? You learn something new everyday. It’s amazing, I’m going to tell everyone I know. Thanks!

There is one specific Instagram account I am choosing to leave nameless since I don’t want him trending in any capacity; and all he does all day is troll and attack Scott, Rusty, Leon and others. We have a immaturity problem; but we also have really caring, informative, I’ll give you the shirt off my back collectors too. Always a bad apple.

I’m also angry that more people are intrested in what I’m intrested.

I got this message on IG today:

“It’s spiked more in the past year than it had in 20 years. Due to rich kids bidding on their own shit and buying it out. Giving the illusion that prices are going up. Its a game. And the “high end” collectors are the grimiest of all.”

So, if we all stop buying all our own shit from ourselves, it seems prices will go down, per this guy.

I’ve never heard of this before. Could you post a good example of what you mean (e.g., a YouTube video about being angry about current prices or accusing people of “collusion”)?

That is some genuine unhappiness.

I mean that’s messed up. But also, is hard to see the hobby (wotc) that was pretty much accessible to anyone going into such an expensive route.

This was in reference to 1sr edition PSA 10 cards. Lower grades and unlimited prints give access to all income levels.

Gotcha, then that attitude is just the dude being spoiled.

The thing is, 90% of Pokémon cards are under $50. Even most wotc cards ungraded or low grades are extremely affordable.

Of course, when pokehut mentioned it was about a PSA 10 then it all made sense. Complaining about the prices of higher end cards is just dumb when there are so many options out there.
