I was very close to buying a couple copies of the Japanese version since the art is very cool representing the video game.
Guess i’ll wait for english now.

Wow I just talked about this in patreon, crazy timing! I wonder if this will affect the Japanese copy as the availably has already shrunk since release.

Reminds me of what happened with the Precious Collector Box Pikachu getting an English version in Crown Zenith. The JP promo remained more expensive, but the existence of the English copy caused the price and growth to stagnate.

It being a JP promo from an unnecessarily high retail threshold will keep it up (Generations Special Battle Set retailed at 4,620 yen). I would be more concerned with what the English version will do considering it is in the same set as SIR & MHR Mega Charizard X ex, as well as the current hype climate attracting card buyouts

Since this announcement, there have been a lot of PSA 10s listed on eBay. I think the English release will absolutely push down interest in the Japanese copy.

I think being from a set with only 13 IRs and with a boosted (Well tbc for PHF) IR pull rate should keep its price down.

Does this imply the Wooper will be there too?
Very likely, it’s the same scenario as IR Bulbasaur and IR Squirtle in Stellar Crown - all of them are originally from special deck sets in JP

This is just one piece of data, from a Reddit post. While it does appear legit, I wouldn’t make any definitive conclusions just yet.
It already lines up with the complete IR/UR/SIR/MHR list for Phantasmal Flames alongside the leaked SIR Mega Lopunny ex, SIR Mega Charizard X ex and MHR Mega Charizard X ex by their set numbers. It’s also a high res image which photoshopped ones tend to avoid, what else is missing?

More images of their pulls from the Phantasmal Flames booster pack. All bulk cards match the ones from Inferno X and Starter Set Mega Diancie ex deck (Meloetta), with the same mirror foil finish on Reshiram as seen with reverse holos in Mega Evolution.

Hopefully it will also be relatively easy to pull, the Paldean Wooper AR also. Phantasmal Flames is like the smallest main expansion in 15 years or something?
Very happy with this news. Always had my eye on the JP copy but I held out hope for an English print. Patience vindicated!
Slight difference is that this promo was released in SV era and would then make an appearance in a Mega Evolution set. Kinda weird
They have made SV gym promos into ME black star promos. Since the card designs from Common to AR/SAR are identical, there should be no issue carrying over the AR Meowth and AR Paldean Wooper

Opposite for me- was hoping that the English would be announced quick so that the JP copy would be cheaper. 1 year later, and the price will have stuck. Plus, I now see the PSA 10s coming out for sale lol.
At least English quality looks to have improved from early SV days so I will probably pick Meowth and Wooper up in English.
