I talk about the plates in this thread. Shadowless non-holo have a -15° front and a +15° back. These fakes all have 45° front and back. If you can recognize those patterns, you can tell if it’s fake or not.

WOTC Holofoil print plate progression 98-2002

Recent research has lead me further down into the rabbit hole. I figured this was some cool information so I would share a bit of what the progression roughly looks like of the front plates used on holofoils and how they progress from the early base set all the way through the final days of WOTC. One of the biggest things found seems to be in the later days they transition to a 45° magenta pattern.
