It’s just a niche but I understand people collecting quirks like this.
I have a Magic the Gathering binder full of cool misprints, miscuts and fake cards I came across while buying old collections (rebacked beta black lotus for instance).
The more I learn about pokemon cards, the more variation, misprints and error cards I come across. It seems like a lot of mistakes were made when printing pokemon. Anyone knows why?
Yeah, probably a collectors edition or international edition with a new back glued on it and the corners cut to beta proportions. Failed the bend test so a nice crease in the middle of the card.
Interesting read, and I love that people are dedicated to completing the collection they want to have. Not everybody in the hobby wants a PSA10 1st Edition Base Set, some settle with just PSA9 or not even 1st Edition. Going for an OC set is a nice challenge and I hope all succeed in doing that.
The only thing I don’t get, is that some keep so solid with the “rare means valuable” thing. Yes, this would apply if WotC/TCPi did good quality control and destroyed misprinted material before packaging, and they slipped through. And sadly, that’s not the case when you see that nowadays complete OC theme decks show up.
