Orannge’s Starmie and Dragalge collection (Ledyba flying in!)

So many good ones again! Especially the shikishi, ice cream sticker and b-side label sticker are top tier picks :ok_hand:

In 2018/2019 there was a campaign called #My151:

The My 151 Campaign was a special campaign at the Pokemon Centers in Japan from November 16, 2018 to February 22, 2019. It featured the original 151 Kanto Pokemon characters in various special limited edition prizes, charms and more. The My 251 Campaign featured all 127 Johto Pokemon and started on June 8, 2019 source

Part of this campaing was this really cute keychain set. The quality seems to be fantastic and I am happy to have those two little beauties in my collection. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::star_struck::star_struck:

I’m not the biggest fan of any charms opened since u’m not that jewel oriented and they just tend to sit in a box without any use for me, but a sealed ones i absolutely love these and they make so good display pieces!

In 2012 Pokémon Tretta, an arcade game, was released in Japan. The game features so called Trettas:

Tretta are rounded square plastic tiles measuring 41×41×3.6 mm and are integral to the gameplay of Pokémon Tretta, as at least one is required to play the game. Each Tretta portrays one of the Pokémon species along with a set of individual statistics such as Hit Points, Attack, Defense, and Speed. Each Pokémon also has a set type as featured in the core series of Pokémon games. Tretta also display the collection number, name, and portion of an image on the left edge. When put in set order, the edges form an image of a number of Pokémon. (source)

I am happy to have 3 out of 4 Dragalge Tretta in my collection. Overall I really love all little plastic collectibles like Ga-Olé discs, Tretta tiles, Waps etc. So I adore those as collectibles even though the actual art could have been better.

On August 10, 2024 Pikachu Press released the Official Sticker Book of the Kanto Region – The Original 151 which features tons of great Pokémon stickers. One sheet and several pages also includes nice stickers of my beloved purple starfish.

Overall the stickers and artworks are really great and hold tons of materials for species collectors. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

In November 2023, a Deck Kit was released in Japan called Pokémon Card Game Classic. It included various items along with three decks. One of these was the Blastoise & Suicune ex deck, which features a Starmie card with artwork originally from the Psycho Drive expansion, released in 2011.

One key difference between the artwork in the Deck Kit and the original Psycho Drive version is the holo effect. The Deck Kit card sparkles beautifully, creating a captivating visual, even though the artwork itself could have been better. The Psycho Drive artwork is somewhat unconventional, as the swarming masses of Starmie give it an odd appearance. That said, I really like it for what it is, even though I can’t quite pinpoint what exactly draws me to this particular design. :star2:

Nevertheless, I’m happy to own copies of this fascinating card and excited to soon add another one from the English release of the set in pristine condition.

I’m proud of the item I want to show you today. :star_struck:
I have never seen a listing for this before and was thrilled to get it for a reasonable price. It’s a (maybe re-) sealed 1998 Mewtwo Strikes Back wallet/card holder with the original inlay card featuring Starmie, along with other Pokémon, in a widely used artwork promoting the movie.

It’s so cool to have this in my collection, and I would love to get some additional info on it if anyone knows more. I’m especially curious whether these wallets were available for purchase or if they were given out to moviegoers.

If you are interested, the artwork used is also featured on two phone cards I have in my collection:

I would have called it a wallet according to AI it was a pass ‘case’ obviously no one calls it that in english. Train tickets cash etc I am also selling a pretty rare one myself in the coming months a velcro Mew / Mewtwo Lenticular variants made my I think Banpresto where the Lenticular one was the Promo of the coin wallet set - series. Its going to be relisted I believe this month or next since it didnt sell at 100$

In 1998, small folded sticker sheets were sold in plastic boxes that were held shut by a clip. They were produced by Bandai and are called Zukan Seal Books. The folded sheets were contained within these plastic boxes. The stickers look absolutely amazing because the colors and designs used are distinct from other releases, as far as I can tell. Overall, the boxes and folded sheets make for excellent collectibles, and I am hoping to get my hands on the complete “book” some day.

Book No. 7 featured an artwork of Starmie as part of the folded sheet. It looks really cool, combining a pleasant blue with the well-known violet of Starmie.

Below, you find pictures of my copy of the separated Starmie sticker, as well as images provided by @bbobrob of the plastic box and the whole sheet. According to @bbobrob, there is also an earlier version of the Zukan stickers, which he has also shared a photo of. If anyone has more information about these early versions, I would love to learn more about them.

Oh yes, I forgot to get back to you about the sticker! I recently purchased a big lot of the older versions, so I have an almost complete set now. The older version is also made by Bandai and has a 1995 copyright, but, like the carddass set, were likely distributed in 1997. Here’s a picture of the book with the Starmie:

I plan to scan the sticker sheet sometime in the future, but let me know if you’d like the scan, and I can get to it sooner. Have to tag @joponnes here too since the Grimer is here (I have the one with Muk too, but the complete books are staying with me for now, as I don’t have extras ).

I was holding the single Starmie and Grimer I have for you and for jopo :slightly_smiling_face: Though I wish the sticker border wasn’t missing. I was going to ask you later if you wanted it, to see if I could gather a small critical mass of Starmie things. But since you brought it up in your collection thread now, I can let you know you can have it if you’d like! My favorite part is the back, as the backs of the newer versions just have move sets that the pokemon learns, but the backs of the older version have the original Red/Green sprites!

I can also reach out if I end up with an extra of the newer Squirtle book.

That is an amazing update! Totally impressive you were able to get an original older version of the sealed book. If you scan it, just hit me up, and I will link it to this posting so people have a comprehensive source if they want to learn more.

The artwork on the older sealed book is also totally cool, and yes, having the original sprites on the back makes it stand out even more. I wonder why they removed it in the newer version and didn’t opt for a combination of sprites and moves. Nevertheless, you’ve really provided some wonderful source material here. Thank you so much.

Plus, you’ll receive a dm soon.

Oh! Those older sticker books are new ones for me and absolute must haves at some point! I have the first one i received from you in my display and it does the job so well so i have to hunt for another ones too, not least because of the gorgeous backs so most likely will go for both singles and the whole sheets

How many of these were made of the older set? Did you complete the set these would be really cool graded also I think

The older set has 16 books. I’ve been stuck at 15, since they don’t come up often, and the last one I need is the Charizard book. I haven’t tried super hard to find it (e.g. reaching out to others that collect vintage Pokemon stickers), as I quite like finding the items myself. I’m also in no rush to finish. I was planning on scanning the books and putting everything up in an article on E4 once the collection is complete, but I may do it for all minus the Charizard in the interim if I ever find the time (have a number of other things I’d like to complete first).

I had thought about trying to submit a research request to PSA for the second set of the stickers, which are way easier to find. I might still get around to it one day, but I’m guessing I’m going to have to be citing my own article on E4 (after I write it) as “proof” of what the set is  as I don’t have much information on the set otherwise. If you have any experience with research requests with not a lot of information, I’d love to pick your brain. Although there isn’t much information, I think the release year, release method, and manufacturer are pretty obvious and easy to show.

The E4 article I plan to write for the second set will come a lot sooner, as I’ve already completed the set and have started scanning a few of the sticker books. But I still just have a ton of stuff I’d like to do at the moment, so the article has taken a back seat for now.

Love these books, so I’m very happy to talk about them :slightly_smiling_face:

Here’s some I was able to find I have 2 folding sheets and 3 of the book cases. My other thread I discarded by accident so had to remake. Someone else bought the Venasaur which is cool glad other people getting these before there gone.

I was the one that picked up the Venusaur :joy: (probably not that much earlier before you picked up the others) I was aware of these listings and was considering picking up the Charizard/Nidoking one for an extra sticker sheet + the Charizard case at least (would still be missing the sticker sheet).

I’m glad you grabbed it can’t go wrong with Pokedex sprites. Barely any cards have that type of theme or reference. I’m not super focused on these items anyways main focus is the Poke Book Project which will hopefully be posted within a few weeks.

A few posts earlier (here), I wrote about the Japanese deck kit Pokémon Card Game Classic. The English version, released as Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic, came out on November 17, 2023. I was fortunate to acquire an excellent copy of the card and managed to capture its stunning holo effect.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the artwork itself isn’t the most remarkable (it was first released in the Psycho Drive expansion back in 2011), but the mesmerizing holo effect elevates it significantly.
