What a gorgeous addition, these kinds of decks are so often the peak of product design! One of the biggest products saltinesses i have is that koga didn’t get an original hanada city gym deck
You are right, this deck is totally stunning in quality design. Would have been totally amazing to see Koga and his Muk in such a cool deck box. Imagine the cool colors of the box and all its contents. ![]()
Updated the photos of the last posts, sorry for the bad lighting. Should look good now. ![]()
The Pokémon Center Japan launched a merchandise series called Oceanic Operetta on July 6, 2019, featuring a wide range of items (see list).
I am thrilled to have found the sealed acrylic keychain items in pristine condition. The artwork is stunning, and the presentation is beautifully executed. Alongside Starmie, there is Vaporeon, while the other two plates showcase Milotic and Primarina (see below).

In 2022, the Let’s Have Fun! Spring. Pokeka campaing was released and featured stickers with amazing artwork. I’m not sure why Starmie was included on this particular sticker, but I’m so glad it was. This sticker has one of the best artworks I’ve ever seen featuring my beloved purple starfish. The art style is incredibly cute and vibrant—I could look at this sticker anytime without ever getting bored. While it’s not hard to find, it’s definitely one of the highlights of my collection. ![]()

If anyone has more information about these stickers, I would greatly appreciate it.

The random appearances in random products like this make some of the best eye candy there is, should happen more often but at least every now and then the not that popular pokemon too have their time in spotlight
Still I could not figure out what product this stikcker is a part of.
But it’s true, in total random products one can find totally amazing artworks of Pokémon that aren’t the main focus. Even though I think Starmie has lots of fans, at least that is the feeling I got from posting here.
Pokémon Scale World is a toy merchandise line by Bandai featuring Pokémon at 1/20th of their actual size, making them all to scale if you were to line them up. I am very happy to have acquired a sealed box from the Kanto Region Series 3, which includes Starmie and Staryu. There is also a larger box that I own, but I need to purchase an acrylic case for it before taking photos. That one will follow in the future.
Personally, I am not the biggest fan of plastic toys, but collecting these figurines in their original packaging feels very satisfying. I really appreciate the packaging design and believe the boxes themselves will become a significant part of the Starmie merchandise line history in the long run.
To give you an overview of the contents, I quote from Pokevault:
Pokémon 2022 Bandai Pokémon Scale World “Kanto Region” #3 Staryu & Starmie figure. Each figure is made to 1/20 scale of the actual Pokémon character. It was only sold at the Pokémon Center and a few licensed Pokémon retailers in Japan in December 2022. Made in very limited quantities and sold for a very short time. Comes with a piece of gum. Made of plastic.

The Pokémon Center released a “Sitting Cuties” plush for every Pokémon. In 2021, Starmie got its release, and the result is absolutely adorable. The plush measures 5.25 inches (13 cm) in diameter and is both soft and well-made. There’s also a much larger version, which I’ve written about previously here.

It’s funny how they have this ability to make faceless, item-like sharp edged pokemon to look indeed cute. I guess the sitting cuties lineup has some popularity but still doesn’t get enough praise for how good the products mostly are
The Sitting Cuties are really something special.
And there is something more to it too, it seems, that the Sitting Cuties come in different “print” runs. At least I saw this Starmie plush with two different labels. The one above and this one (saved the pics from Buyee):
In 2002, a Tazo was released in Spain as part of the Tazos League 2 series. The Tazo is a chip made of translucent plastic, although not all Tazos in the series are translucent. Unfortunately, I have not found any additional information beyond what is available on this fantastic website here.
If anyone knows more about this Tazo, please let me know.
This particular Tazo features Gengar and Starmie battling, which is a common theme throughout the League series. The illustration on this Tazo is very well done, and some others in the series are equally amazing and hilarious.

Omg, I remember those! As other Tazos collections, kids could get them from crisps. This particular collection, the League 2 series, is 40 Tazos, being all of them translucent (they were the first featuring this kind of plastic). The illustration was actually hidden by a sticker, featuring one of the two Pokémon battling inside, so, you could say this collection was really 80 pieces (Tazo + sticker). Then, you may stick those covers in an album, which resembled a Pokémon League (a “single elimination tournament”). That’s where the name comes from. Each kid would personalize the brackets so that their favourite Pokémon would win.
You can read more here.
I bet it won’t be easy to find one of these Tazos in pristine condition, with its sticker still on place.
Thank you so much for this additional information! I am always fascinated by how much knowledge is out there and the memories a single collectible can bring back. After doing some research on the non-English releases, I discovered a plethora of products I had never heard of or seen before. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have the chance to find one withe sticker of Starmie still on. For now, however, the non-English or non-Japanese releases are not my main focus.
Thank you again!

In Japan, the Pocket Monsters Board Game was released in 1997, and it was later introduced in 1999 in the US and other countries as Pokémon Master Trainer game. The goal of the game is to travel through Kanto and catch Pokémon.
The game consists of various pieces and cards. Among them are paper chips featuring Starmie, as well as a Starmie card, which I will share after grading. The chips themselves aren’t particularly remarkable. The plain green color could have been chosen differently to make the chips appear more premium. But alas.
In the pictures, you can see the English version alongside the completely off-centered German version.

There’s also a french version of these and an updated variant of english chip from 2001 print of the game if you are interested in those!
Being an only child I remember making my poor mother play this board game with me a lot, she was a real trooper. I believe someone on Reddit made a completely enhanced version of this game with all custom made pieces and unique gameplay.
I am really interested in the updated variant and the original Japanese one. But for now, I don’t focus on finding them. The opportunity will arise, I am sure.
Thanks for sharing this cool story. ![]()
Are you able to find the link to the custom veresion? Would love to see it.

Found it! I’m realizing like it’s more like the video games than the board game. but it being a table top game about the journey to 8 badges and champion, the core of both games are pretty similar.
There’s a few online versions of master trainer that are more 1:1 that I found while searching for the above game.
