No, im not active. But i wouldnt go on whatnot and expect to not get scammed if i spent any significant time there. Its a rowdy location, with some rowdy people, allowed to be rowdy as long as there is nothing actionable to handle. Also sometimes things just burn themselves out, no need for heavy handed moderation. This topic is an example.

Vert, let’s be serious here. If you want to talk about moderation, you can DM me about it as you have previously. I will say that litigating individual bans or non-bans is not going to be a fruitful thing to discuss.
It is ironic, however, that you are complaining about a lack of standardized moderation when you yourself have benefited from that lack of moderation. We turn a blind eye to the age requirements on the forum and discord because we know you make positive contributions and we want you to have a positive place to discuss the hobby. Other underage members are not that fortunate. As you acknowledged in this thread, you were contributing to toxicity in the discord, and were warned and timed out several times. Despite this, you have not been banned and are welcome in the discord at any time, as long as you positively contribute, which I know you can.

Discord servers in general suffer from this effect where annoying or toxic people will join and be very active. They won’t outright break the rules, so they aren’t banned, but they tend to cause other members to have a bad time and inadvertently push them out. Over time this compounds on itself until the whole server is dominated by these types of less savory people that are only tolerated by those same types of people.
Sometimes I feel like the E4 discord falls into this trap, but it really depends on the time of day and the state of Pokemon collecting as a whole, like I said in my other post. Thankfully the discords mods tend to be really active and really cool/positive/helpful. And I’m not saying that to suck up; they are some of the best groups of discord mods I’ve seen.
So all in all, the server is fine most of the time, but it can also be frustrating at times.

This is a phenomenal description! This is the exact struggle and impossibility of pleasing everyone on discord. There have been so many members over the years that would causes issues, but not break any rules, all while being fine most of the time, and sometimes even fun. I think this is why the structure of discord is the core issue, as you see the complexity of humans on display, on a platform that is constant, invites immediacy and highly reactive.
Sorry I could write a dissertation on the topic as I’ve spent too much of my life babysitting adults, realizing there is no way to please everyone.

I really enjoyed being part of the discord. I’m on a break because my pea brain struggles with constant messaging and I over-engage, similar to the chat feature here.
I appreciate that there are different ways to engage for different people. And I don’t mean this next part to come across insensitive, but to some extent, you make your own experience. There are of course exceptions where people are targeted and people get out of line, and the mods do a great job there. But if you’re always looking for the negatives, you’re going to find them.
And if some aspects get to be too tiring or not enjoyable, a break is a great thing! That goes for the forum, the discord, or collecting as a whole. If it’s not fun, then why do it?

It’s a problem that I’ve seen time and time again across so many different communities, some I have or do moderate—discords, Skype groups, forums and message boards… I’m sure it’s just an unfortunate reality of the dynamics of groups of humans in general. It just stinks there’s not an easy or simple way to fix it if “fix” is even the right word.

I mostly lurk in the discord but it seems fine. Just seems like lots of joking and sarcasm 
I’m a little too boomer for busy discords. That shit just moves too fast for me. I’ll be lurking, walk off for 10 minutes, come back and I’m literally hundreds of posts behind. Discord is tiring to me but that’s not unique to E4’s by any means.
