There are shops like surugaya that focus more towards the things you are looking for. But postcards are not very popular in Japan so they focus more on toys, stickers, figures and other second Handy Anime things.
There is also lashinbang but I am not sure how much this is second hand. Maybe someone who knows can chime in?

Also mandarake sells these things second hand. In nakano Broadway and ikebukoro they have several different mandarakes just for figures and other things

Today I went to a couple of this further out but they didn’t have much in store card wise. But some had really good prices for games.

And here the games. Do even care about the games or should I leave them out?

And at the end a picture of the natsu matsuri fireworks I attend this evening with a friend.

The games are really cool to see as well as the unique shops in general. I doubt i’ll get the chance to visit anytime in the foreseeable future so Im living vicariously through your pictures (although I would have definitely tried scooping a cheap sapporo pikachu by now).

Very interesting to see how meticulously the shops are organized and arranged for maximizing the space although the photos dont make it seem claustrophobic. Thanks for the unintentional tour!

Maybe a weird question, but how often do you spot fake merchandise in these types of stores? Not just fake cards, but toys and all that as well. Are there resealed stuff?

Thank you!!! This is a gorgeous selection. I was worried that one day I would visit and wouldn’t be able to find any stores like this. Thanks for giving me peace of mind. I appreciate your consideration!

Please, keep posting them! I love this thread, I’m already waiting for the next update! :pikalove:

That’s actually a good question.
So fake cards I have never spotted. I think reseals are also quite uncommon if it comes to cards.
With games I think it’s quite common since most are in used condition and originally didn’t come in shrinkwrap to begin with.
For plushies and toys I see a lot of knock offs since they don’t seem to care that much about it. But you can often tell since they are not trying to hide the fact.

Today I finished visiting all the 69 shops on my list for Nagoya.
In conclusion I can say that the best shops were shops not owned by big chains and we’re a bit further out the way.
For video games bookoffs are still the best especially the ones a bit further out. But these things are a hit or miss.

Since people seemed interested in tours through some shops and the general layout of shops I tried to take some more pictures.
Let me know what you are interested in and I’ll to capture it in pictures for you.

That magazine with Kusubes illustration of Lances Charizard is amazing, I’ve never seen this one before. It seems to be rather expensive so I guess it’s also kind of rare.

By the way, 500 Yen for loose Gen I or II mainline games is a pretty good deal, it’s also the cheapest I’ve seen them while in Japan. So if you are thinking of picking those up you should at those prices.

The booklet Was a fanclub magazin from 2001
A celebi or a Masaki card was distributed with it. That’s partly the reason for the price.

Yes its really cheap. I am going only for boxed games and luckily found some good deals already.

What is that Pikachu pez dispenser looking thing in the last photo? I love it!

I would probably speculate that the pricing just comes from the cover art. And I also think it is a good price if it is a sealed magazine. This trainer magazine contains the 007/P - Celebi Promo and 009/P Bill (WEB) promo card.

Cheers!

You will definitely have to show your haul at the end of the trip! Loving the games and TCG stuff. Hell, you might have to share your list of stores. Seems really well thought out and good for fellow collectors here!

Great stuff.

Where are these stores located?

It looks like some sort of a brush for a Gameboy kit.

Unfortunately it was not sealed but it was in NM condition, had all the inserts and the promo card was still sealed.

And the insert showed that two different kind of celebis could be included.
