I’m currently finishing up collecting one of each artwork for the old ex cards, and was recently found out through this forum the alternate/error holo pattern on the FRLG Articuno ex. For anyone who isn’t aware, the card is meant to have a shatter holo, but the misprint just has a regular ex holo pattern as can be seen below.
I’ve heard that it happened to the other two birds, although I haven’t seen any pictures of them, so if anyone could confirm them existing that would be helpful.
Also whether anyone knows of any other cases like this or similar to this throughout the series.
Pretty sure it was confirmed a long while ago on pokegym, someone claimed the Moltres & Zapdos. Since I have the Articuno, I assume all three had the error/misprint/whatever you want to call it.
Indeed I did. It’s a double error (which I found out the shard holo error after I won the auction because it had terrible pictures on account of a potato phone lol I kinda just figured it was a bad angle.) But yeah, I’m 100% certain that the other birds have it too. Not going to search everywhere for pics but they’re out there… The thread on pokebeach a while back suggested some sort of UK print run had the errors but I’m skeptical to that since there was never any sort of evidence confirming it.
Also, seeing as the card below articuno is fire type, I’d assume it’s a moltres and that the whole sheet had the 3 legendary birds. It would be logical for them to be all on the same sheet so that the whole sheet could get the shard holo treatment. But this guy along with the rest of the cards must’ve missed the shard holo treatment for whatever reason.
Now just to see if there’s any others like them!
