New Pokemon Centre FA Red's pikachu

I love the artwork reminds me of a custom full art card. nice to see ash in a card, my wife asked me the other day what cards had ash in it and i struggled to find more than 1 or 2!

Looks good to me.

I really like it! +2 here

So this is based of the Kotobukiya Red figure? Pretty neat, would look nice displayed together. Wish there was a bit more of Red’s body on the actual card though.

Call Red Ash one more time.

I love Ash so I hate to break it to you, but this isn’t Ash. Ash was certainly based on Red who appeared in the video games, but is a different person. I do wish there were more cards with Ash, The Treeko ADV Card is one of the few that comes to mind.
That said, Red also holds a unique place in Pokemon History, so I do love the new Full Art card.

The Ash I know is from Indigo League and what I grew up on. Here’s a good one:

Whats the connection between red and pikachu? Just pokemon yellow or is there something else? Can see how people get confused.

Pikachu was his strongest pokemon in gold/silver/crystal. Other than that I don’t actually know why he has a pikachu in canon.

Red is the original Pokémon Protagonist. Originally seen with Pikachu on his side in the manga Pokémon Adventures.

Why is it that Japanese developers always list characters blood type?

Shrug*

Someone better draw a squatting Ash in an Adidas tracksuit.

Ok, so this might have been a coincidence, but like many other foreigners, I jumped on the hype train and decided to check out YJ on the day this card came out, in the hopes of buying quite a few of them.

After having a few failed attempts, I started looking objectively at all current listings and noticed a lot of very decent listings for other collections and singles at unusually low prices (up to 20% less). Basically I scooped up all I could and didn’t buy a single copy of this promo.

Seems to me that this was a perfect storm of hype, turning everyone’s attention to this particular card for the weekend, as well as it being the end of the month, meaning people don’t have as much money to go around. Boy am I chuffed with all the stuff I got.

Anyone else noticed this?

I noticed that there are A TON of them circulating. Sellers are selling up to 280 copies in one listing.

I mean theres listings with blocks of 50 being sold. Theres no shortage of this card.

Did anyone actually think this card would be rare or even scarce? The pre sale of this card showed many hundreds possibly thousands sold.,

Lol why is everyone so concerned with the value of this card?..

It’s a promo with not the best art we’ve seen, that’s practically being given out for free, and on top of that was JUST released.

All 3 of those factors are going to make this a low valued card for a while.

I’m literally buying copies just because I love the exclusive Ken Sugimori artwork, since we rarely see anything from him. Value increasing doesn’t matter to me at all with this one.

Blood type has cultural significance in Japan built on a pseudo-scientific personality-theory in a similar vein to astrology, Type O is significant in that these people are considered to be more confident- so perfect for a protagonist.

Agree with @swolepoke. It’s a really cool card. And Japan exclusive Fullarts are always awesome to see! Just enjoy it for what it is, collect it if you like it or pass on it if you don’t regardless of value.
For those who just want to collect the cheap pricing is great, I think it’s good that it’s obtainable for everyone right now
