I was working with some MBTI data at the university I work at and it made me wonder about people on the forum. So out of curiosity, what is your MBTI type?

For those unfamiliar with MBTI, WIKIPEDIA has a good history section on it, though an unnecessarily biased introduction.

For those interested in figuring out their MBTI, HERE’S a decent free one. You might read the types close to yours also to see if one feels like it fits a little bit better.

Perhaps other people haven’t encountered enough professional settings that tested for stuff like this and we’ll find the thread a dud. But for those who have I’d love to be able to have that information in the back of my head as I read your posts. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Realized adding in mine would probably be a rad way to start things off. I’m pretty deep in the INTJ pool.

That they are! The MBTI shows you where you most likely sit on a scale though, across multiple traits.

I’ve studied similar personally trait tests at university and they harp on this through work.

The aim is to know what you’re like and work on the “weaknesses” as well as build on your strengths.

Adventurer (ISFP-A)

I think the personality description goes against what I answered which confuses me a lot. I’ve been doing these tests and almost always get an ISFP, but I don’t feel like I fit into it much. So as there are people who have studied personality traits, can you explain this to me?
I disagree more with the results than agree but yet I seem to always get this personality so I don’t really understand it at all. I know is not definitive but it confuses me. Other personality tests seem to find mostly what I am, but to me it looks like there really isn’t a type for my personality on the MBTI so this is what is the closest to me when judging the results? I find it odd there are so many things that clash with what I really am. Maybe another introvert personality would fit me better but I always get this one for some reason.

this was very fun. reading through all of it explains a lot.
it says i am more extroverted but the majority of the time
i am introverted. I think i view being extroverted as a skill
and an obstacle. It’s that im not afraid but I’ll do it anyway.
I get horrible air sickness when jumping from planes (about
to puke, full body sweats, nasuea etc), but when i get to the door
it goes a away and i do it anyway. I get a less intense feeling with
social settings but I force myself to do it because (insert reason).

I’ve already done two of these tests in the past. Once 2.5 years ago and once about a year ago. It hasn’t changed much since then. This one is the same as 2.5 years ago, not sure what the one a year ago was, but one letter was different:

Irl I’m pretty introvert. I have a lot of dreams and imagination when I’m alone. And although I’m very organized (just look at my Pokémon TCG and twisty puzzle collections as example), I really should plan a bit more (both in day-to-day activity as well as long-term goals)…

I know I’m an INTP-A personality type. For those that feel they were placed into the wrong group that’s not uncommon. Personality test aren’t always the best indicators into your personality. For example, while I know I’m an INTP, I also display a lot of INTJ traits so about 60% of the time when doing the tests I get INTP, and 40% in the INTJ.

If you feel you’re in the wrong group you should try and find your dominant function. Each of the letters represents a function and after the first letter (Introverted/Extroverted) one of the next three will be a dominant function you’ve developed more than others. By finding your dominant function you can better find your personality type because only specific personality types use a specific function. For me I’m a very logical person and rely on the (T)hinking aspect of my personality. So when I’m so close to the INTP and INTJ personalities the dominant function in INTP is Thinking and the dominant function in INTJ is i(N)tuition.
