My Paras Collection

Good afternoon all. Thankyou for the kind welcome in the welcome thread.

I’m near to finishing my master set for English/Japanese Paras cards and need to get some rep on here to be able to post a buy thread so here’s my collection so far.

Notable cards here/missing include: Page 2, the English Ex FR/LG set has a weird print thing where the non-reverse cards have varying print codes (no idea what they mean) in the bottom left of the card. I have 2 of the 3 non-reverse and 1 more on the way, and the Reverse Holo has another different code. I’m waiting for the ‘STD’ code Paras to finish that page.

Page 3: The first card I have missing, I have on the way, it was a German Advent calendar promo with a snowflake stamp. My friends in the Netherlands have very kindly found me one and that will be added soon.

The second missing card on that page is the one I signed up to this forum for. It’s the UNLIMITED printing of the Red Flash (JP) Paras. I’m drawing a blank on it at the moment. There’s one for sale on Cardmarket, but I can’t confirm if it is actually unlimited and they don’t ship to the UK so RIP me I guess :slight_smile:

Page 4: There are 2 French cards here which were McDonalds promos.

ALSO, in the top left, there are 2 Asian promos. One is a Gym Challenge JP one which is fairly plentiful, however the one to the right of that is a very obscure Korean promo SM/P 144 which when you search, will probably come up with the JP poncho pikachus, however this was allegedly given away in either tournament prizes or in a promotion with packets of Sausages o.O a kind chap on Reddit helped me out with this one.

There is one last page that I can’t upload (I assume there’s a 10 image limit) which has the Journey together normal/reverse, the JP equivalent and a JP starter deck version (which is basically the same card with a different set symbol).

I’ll probably look into getting the CN stuff after this is finished, then maybe try and hunt down all the alt language printings after that. The Polish, Russian and Portugese ones are going to be a nightmare!

Nice collection! And welcome again.

Out of curiosity: what makes Paras (one of) your favorite Pokémon? Paras is usually a pretty overlooked Pokémon, even though it is a cute little bugger imo.
And what is your favorite Paras TCG artwork? Mine has always been that Japanese-exclusive Vending Machine Paras with the green glow. :slight_smile:

Thanks very much.

I chose Paras as one of my favourites because I felt sorry for him! The fact that he is being taken over by the mushrooms on his back is horrible! So obvs I hate Parasect for that reason too :slight_smile:

My favourite art is probably the Generations art with him watching the rain from inside the tree!

I have 2 other Pokémon I’m collecting, which are Zangoose (my absolute favourite) where I’m trying to get 9 of each normal and reverse holo to fill pages in a binder. That’s a work in progress on some of the older more expensive ones, but WTB actual alt art.

The other is Hawlucha. I have most of the modern stuff incl the STAFF promo card, but need to work on the older stuff.

Now THIS is what collecting is all about. Never would I think to see a Paras collector, but, this is magnificant.

I love Paras, he’s sooo cute! There are some nice cards out there.
I always put Paras in my pokewalker so I could take him around with me

Wonderful collection, thanks for sharing with us! Paras is pretty underrated for a gen 1 Pokemon I’d say. The Generations Paras might be my favorite card as well. I enjoy the emphasis on the environment he’s in!

Paras has a stellar lineup of artists who’ve illustrated the Pokemon: Arita, Sugimori, Himeno, Baba, Morii, Tanaka, Harada, Kusajima, Kusube, Yoshida, Kimura, Nishida, Mizue, Saito, Ikegami, Ozaki, and my personal favorite: OOYAMA.

Great choice for a species to collect!
