Thanks for the feedback! I was watching these mtg videos, and was like, “I wish someone with a lot of experience in pokemon would make videos like this”. My brain was like come on, wait for it, “Oh yeah, I could try and do this”.
Also, some of the members were kicking around the idea of doing podcasts. Basically people would ask questions or submit topics, and we would talk about them. Hopefully that will be useful in some way. Anyway, I might try this in the near future and see how it goes.
I think it would be a good idea. I think the difference between pokemon/yu gi oh and MTG is the percentage of maturity among the people. If you look at magic players at the same level as this forum, they are much more people who are established. I know there are still lots of hidden pokemon collectors that don’t want to be on forums or social media but even estimating their numbers it would pale in comparison to the same level of collectors in MTG. Right away, looking at this your audience will always be smaller. Which I think is sad because pokemon can be just as much fun as MTG for speculation (although much simpler) and has ton of areas we can explore.
I did email and hear back from MTG alpha investments about pokemon. He has some cards but not very many and he’s reluctant to explore other things outside MTG. Hoping your videos can look at pokemon in a similar manner. There’s plenty of topics we can help you cover and bridge. On Instagram I was giving some advice to a new grader and they didn’t believe a word I said about the illustrator or the number of copies. I think beyond price speculations, you have a chance to make quality videos about a lot of different things that most collectors still dont know about or believe.
Absolutely! I couldn’t agree more about maturity level. I think it is mostly due to the hobby being a bit older. Most of the individuals in the hobbies have an economic identity. I personally believe pokemon has another level of growth for it to be established like MTG or older sports cards.
Actually, it was touched no a bit in this article. Hopefully when more people get into careers, they will use their disposable income to collect Pokemon. I think the trend is already happening with the steady price increases we have experienced.
