Movie Box Office, Releases, and Discussion

Only ever seen 2 of the Star Wars movies and I don’t really care for them. My reaction when people get all excited about it in conversation and expect me to return the excitement.

Which two? I think this one has the ability to appeal to a wider (or just different) audience. I’d reccomend giving this one or even Rogue One a try. They’re quite different from the rest. Or maybe you won’t like them. I know everyone has different tastes but still…

Just taking out your pokerage on the forum. :joy: For a lot of people those movies were a formative experience and the worship is inevitable, even if artistically unwarranted. I think regardless of the “film” merit, it’s incredible that so many people, all over the world, in different generations, connect with the story, character, symbols, etc. in the same way. I really think that’s something special.

I’ve seen Empire Strikes Back, and Revenge of the Sith. The new ones don’t appeal to me at all, I just don’t like the world and the lore around it.

Star Wars is doing great. How high do you guys think it will end at worldwide? Does it have a shot at $1,500,000,000?

I thought China would give it a $100M+ boost, but it looks to be a bit of a flop there from what I’ve heard.

The Post

Long-time editor Ben Bradlee comes across the story of a lifetime - The Pentagon Papers, a massive government cover-up of Vietnam that spans three decades and involves four presidents. Proud Mary
Plot: Mary is the master of her craft, a hit woman who is as deadly as she is serious. But after a hit goes wrong, a young boy is left behind, one who does something Mary never thought possible - awaken her maternal instincts.

The Greatest Showman - 9/10

Enjoyed the whole movie from start to finish, dance routines were really cool and I never felt like I wanted any of the songs to hurry up and finish. Great performance from Huge Jacked Man. The supporting ‘oddity’ cast was brilliant as well, boy can that Bearded Lady sing. Zac Efron is solid.

My only real criticism is that we had more or less no background information/set up for Zac Efrons’ character and why he was so miserable in his current life, just 5 minutes would have been enough.

The Post just came out, hits 18 million and gets the nom for best picture. It might be a great film (I want to see it), but it still baffles me how they can lock in a nom so quick. I understands screeners are sent out. It seems like a manufactured nom without the chance for a large public opinion. That’s Streep & Hanks.

Streep, Hanks, and Denzel Washington are like the token nominations no matter what they are in.

I just watched LEGO Batman and have no clue how it was snubbed by Boss Baby.
