You asked whether the cards were a misprint or fake; @acebren answered your question right out of the gate (and was correct). Not sure how that’s not helping…
Because I also specified that I was looking for other ways to tell because every other aspect of these seem legit according to every other site that I have looked at. I was not looking for someone to just keep telling me “there’s no way they’re real because of the HP” Now. I understand that that is a telltale sign but there are legitimate cards out there that if given the list of things that are common in counterfeits would fit the criteria of being fake. I do not know if I need to keep repeating this but I purchased them from Walmart in a pack of pokemon cards. Whereas, I am not naive to the fact that they could be counterfeit, I was looking for someone that may have more information and knowledge on the fact.
already answered, would have seen that if you weren’t too busy dreaming of what you’re going to spend the jackpot on that you’ll get from selling these rare misprints lol
there’s no 1 size fits all guide to tell if a particular card is fake, multiple cards having extreme errors coming from the same pack was enough for me to confirm the cards were fake
the HP was a clear giveaway already, but the errors in the texts like the wrong pokedex number drive it home. Not to mention that holo pattern is also a clear giveaway, since that is no holo pattern that’s been ever used in legit pokemon cards.
On a side note, you asked a question, and people answered. No need to get snarky. They could’ve gone ahead and told you ripping up a card will show you clearly if it’s fake or not (wich is actually a legit thing) cause there’s a black layer in between the cardboard in legit cards, but would you have been willing to rip up your cards? Identifying fake cards isn’t exactly an exact science since there’s many different people making them in different ways.
People also stated that packs from 3rd party repackaging companies that are sold in Wallmart can be fake so buying it in Wallmart is no guarantee that they’re legit.
At this time your question should be answered to the best of people’s abilities. If you insist that google is more useful than we are, feel free to take your questions there next time.
It was accurately determined to be fake in literally the first reply here based on the tiny amount of information you provided.
Next time I’ll be sure to dispatch the local E4 community volunteer to your location to do an in-person evaluation. And don’t worry, I’m already writing up a 32 page dossier on how to distinguish fake cards from real cards on the off chance you have another question.
Just for reference if you ever want to have someone professionally analyze a card for authenticity you can send it in to be graded here: www.psacard.com/services/tradingcardgrading
It does cost a small fee but it can bring a lot of clarity to a situation if needed! Happy hunting!
Not to mention, most misprints are in multiple for a set sheet. The misprint without “hp” is the dark persion “no hp” error card and it’s on a small amount of that card. The point being that it is a specific card that has the same error on other copies. It’s also a well known error and recognized by the community.
PS: @stephneechan answer gives all the information why it is a fake.
Although I can understand you are doubting our comments since you’ve bought it at Walmart, @acebren did provide an answer based on the information given (before you posted the pictures). All the things you’ve mentioned in your first post (wrong index number, wrong hp, spelling errors in the description, etc.) are usually indications of fakes. It is of course possible an error with one of these issues is accidentally printed for a single card, but not all three on the same card.
I and almost everyone else here on the forum will be able to state the cards you’ve posted pictures of are fakes from over a mile away, so it was indeed a good thing you’ve asked the forum for help (even though you didn’t want to believe the answers given because you wanted them to be real). This whole thread reminds me of a quote from a book I recently wrote:
