¡Hola! I’m Nacho, known in the community as Nacho Metapod or Metapod_Museum. I’m a collector from Spain and I’m aiming to be the biggest Metapod collector in the world, I think I’m on the right track!
I should have started this article showing my collection years ago, but I can’t delay it anymore: I have officially applied for the Guinness World Record and now I have a few hard weeks left to catalog all the items correctly. Right now I can’t even tell how many non-duplicate items I have!
[This text is awaiting editing while I discover the potential that E4 has for customizing articles.]
In the meantime, this is a brief summary of what I will publish here:
History and objectives - Why Metapod is the GOAT and not Kakuna
TCG: 100% all languages and rarities
Progress of 100% of all languages and rarities of Topps, stickers, cardass, tazos, sleeves, figures… any object with a Metapod image. Both official and unofficial (prioritizing bootleg vintage and discarding modern proxies).
Objects signed by people from the community
Videos and podcasts where my collection is featured
General information that I can contribute to the community
List of thanks
Spoiler: Through Club 151 de Coleccionistas, the first legal non-profit association in Spain dedicated to Pokemon card collecting, it will be possible to see the complete collection in a physical museum in the future! We will prepare a specific post of Club 151.
Amazing to see this happen and be part of the front row but i have to ask… when you complete your metapod journey will you then evolve your collection to butterfree?
I don’t know if I’ve told you before, but I’m extremely proud of your collection … I’m aware that building a Master Collection requires a lot of effort and research.
And I’m extremely happy to have contributed to your collection with one custom card from “Ness is Sans Confirmed” (Peruvian illustrator who mixes popular culture with peruvian culture) …
The reference of this card is simple … Dota 2 was a MOBA game that was popular in Internet Cafes … In those places there were people who could spend hours in the game. The most popular snack combination was “Cuates” (Spicy) (That was basically corn tortilla with pepper) + “Cifrut” (citric drink) … Those 2 were mostly consumed by Dota 2 players and the illustration makes reference to that.
That has been part of the peruvian popular culture for a while … Even “Tambo” (convenience store from Peru) has made reference to that once …
Muchisímas gracias caballero! I keep your cards with affection. As I told you, I have more than 3,000 hours of DOTA2 so this bootleg card is twice as important to me. In fact, it looks like it was made to my stocking hahaha
I am totally excited about your thread and I am sure it will be a highlight on e4. For species collectors it most likely will be an invaluable source of knowledge.
Sooo thrilled. And by the way: It’s totally wild, you found a way to make your collection accessible to the public. Hopefully the trend of actual Pokémon museums will grow.
Haha, it is so uncanny. I recently spoke to @Metapod_museum about the love for Dota 2 since we had similar in-game time. So this seems like a perfect custom card.
Also, having met Nacho in real life, I know how wholesome of a person they are. The passion for everything Metapod is very evident and is also infectious that you always want to root for them. So, I am really hoping to see you fulfil this dream of yours. I really loved the video and your collection is very impressive.
Looking forward to all of your progress and wishing you all the success with your dream and also the record that you applied for.
This is just really great I loved the video. I think the Metapod Museum can be an inspiration for many collectors! Keep on being resilient like Metapod!
I don’t post on IG, but I helped organize a secret event on Instagram called “Metapod Monday,” partially inspired by your page.
If anyone here was around for it, about 20-30 of us posted only Metapod content using the hashtag #metapodmonday on January 22nd, 2024, which caused a good bit of mass confusion.
