Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024

I’ll respond to this now, I think the difference you’re seeing is in the printer. You are comparing a industrial sized offset printed image to one made by a home/office printer. They are both trying to match a digital colour image and a home printer can only approximate it so closely. If you want to persue this route you should compare the positioning of the white patches in the art because an overexposed image will have larger white patches.

I’ve been away at work and must have missed this. Did we discover that the HQ Beta’s with no dots on the front have evidence of 2024 dots being on the backside?

I posted some photos of my HQ Beta back earlier in the thread, but couldn’t see any true dots in my scan. Maybe I missed them.

I just can’t believe people thought these were real honestly. That’s just me. I wasn’t interested whatsoever and I’m still not, I have the test prints that I want.

No, on the back of the HQ beta is a subtle alpha pattern. It looks like the HQ beta uses a scan of an alpha on the backside, which picks up some of the dot pattern (mostly in non-white and non-dark-blue areas)

Which means the HQ beta were printed after the alphas that have the alpha pattern. So when the alphas were printed is the lower bound timeframe for HQ betas.

It always seemed to be whoever obtained sets instantly tried to sell them. GemMintPokemon did the same thing. Now it could just be the excitement of buying the set in person and then realizing there are a lot more than you thought. I could see someone thinking, “Fu** did I just pay 6 figures for fakes”, then auction them to recoup some money.

Wanted to share my playtest and hopefully add to any data being compiled. From the certs known this is a “LQ” beta.

Using the phone method these were the dots that appeared(can see better if zoomed in). With the photos I have the dot decoder is showing the card was printed on April 28 2024.

Is it possible to do the scan at 1200 dpi and upload it to imgur or google drive?

Have a psyduck alpha prototype won from alt in Dec - there’s no way to tell when it was printed right?

here is a thread with a video on how to determine. i am not sure if the scans on Alt are high enough quality but its worth a shot.

Unfortunately I got the black and white alpha prototype - no idea how those are yet right as the printer metadata can only be used for colorized prints

Ah, my mistake. I can never remember which cards are which. Yeah, I think you are right. The black and white ones don’t have any method of determining the date yet.

For those cards you can look at the background in the art box

Nothing for sure as of a date, but you can tell if it was likely a reprint or not

Has anyone called this out yet? Remember this photo? Why is one of the graded cards folded over?

Those are just printed photos of the graded cads. Its for security.
