Live Signature Cards in MTG Packs

MTG is turning the way of sports cards and adding live signatures as chase cards. Imagine a world where Pokemon added live artist signatures as chases to their packs.

Bring the ultimate Star Trek collectibles to your decks with cards signed by the Star Trek actors! Each headliner card depicts a character that fans will instantly recognize, rendered in a beautiful portrait against a cosmic background. Once printed, each card was hand-signed by the actor who originally portrayed the character and randomly inserted into a Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector Booster. When you hold one of these cards in your hand, you’re holding a piece of Star Trek history. It’s unlike anything we’ve done before for Magic, and we cannot wait for fans to get their hands on these cards.

There are 7 different signed cards in Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek. There are approximately 250 copies of each signed card, and each features a signature from a Star Trek actor. Signed cards can only appear in Collector Boosters of any language, but the card will always be in English.

Haven’t bought MTG since OoTJ.

I think signed cards are cool, but these feel so heartless

Same. It’s the signature box for me. Too sterile/ reminiscent of autographs on stickers pasted on a card

All MTG cards are pretty heartless lol but they have fully embraced the 2026 investment collector vibes

Definitely a shell of what it used to be. Just IP smashing until the numbers go up.

MtG was close to sports cards with the introduction of serialized cards but with the autographs, ehhh I dunno. I enjoyed/still enjoy Magic because at least is wasn’t scalpable like other tcgs, but just with how Wizards is going, I don’t like it at all. Too much commander focus, not enough for the 60 card formats.

Id like a Scooby Doo auto personally

only makes sense if the signer is worth something which i doubt any of those are

the pokeman siggys are worth quite a bit (for the original artists anyway)

look i even have one of those myself that is the same person right

I hate these and all my mtg homies hate these what are we doing

First thing that springs to mind when someone mentions that pokemon-adjacent Eye Pee with the Alpha and Black Lotus:

I don’t think there is a difference between a 1/100 The One Ring or a 1/100(?) Signature Card.

It was something Rudy called out a few years ago. MTG is Hasbro’s biggest money printing machine and they just imitating whatever TOPPS is doing. And it seems to work out for Hasbro.

My issue with the Star Trek Magic the Gathering set is the horrible AI shading and the inclusion of the J.J. Abrams movies over the original 10.

If people like these thats great, but they feel like a totally different brand. They feel like a billboard ad for monthly/quarterly ip collabs. Then again trading cards are so hot right now we might just be skyshroud elves yelling at the clouds.

Did you see eBay said card singles totaled $1.3b in sales so far this year?
