You see the logic goes “Snap is cool. But limited market since a lot of people don’t know they even exist. But waifu. Everyone needs waifus.” And based on what my friends told me their anime figures cost, I’m kinda not surprised at what this is going for.

I think I remember quuadors post about buying it and worrying he overpaid. This was a 1000$ card initially. People were thinking it would going to be like the HR competition cards. Is this a card with ~1000 copies?

I think the intended distribution was probably going to be close to 1000, but with covid cancelling a lot of the EBD tournaments, the actual distribution probably ended up being closer to 300-400 if I had to guess. I remember at some point people were trying to estimate the number of EBD events that occurred around that time, but I don’t remember what the final consensus was.

I think the most frustrating thing about this for me is that Lillie is a pretty sh*t character from the Sun & Moon anime. She’s extremely annoying compared to the far more badass Mallow and Lana.

The time now is different, yes, but times changing does not mean permanent or lasting change. Just like the Bob Dylan song, the changes and future may very well be indecipherable. 
In hindsight and the long run, we may see that nothing truly changed at all…

They may be rare, but Snap cards are fugly. Trophies are completely uninteresting.
In a few years time, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the JP Flareon/Vaporeon/Jolteon VMAX AAs going for record amounts. Actual Pokemon, actually good art, limited supply.
That’s not even a bold prediction.
Those Charizard VMAX from Taiwan, HK, Indonesia and Thailand with limited copies might also skyrocket, if they don’t start out that way already.

Japanese exclusive cards like snap and trophy will win in the long run. The lottery Eeveelutions will be held back because there are other alternatives. English released them in mass as promos. Other Asian languages had them as prize cards. No reason to spend tens of thousands on the Japanese copy when there are other options. I am 100% ok with the 3 holes in my binder from those since there is an English copy right next to the hole.
