Not too sure if people outside the UK are that familiar with lad bible. Over recent months there have been frequent posts about Pokemon cards - mainly covering the cliche “you could be sat on a gold mine”. The articles are that bad they are funny. Reading the comments sections on these post can also be very amusing if anyone wants a laugh
For instance, the Booster Shadowless Charizard Pokemon Card Holo is a good one to have. Some are listed for hundreds, while others go up to prices of £3,600 (AUD$6,300). Not bad for a card that would’ve set you back 50p.
Instagram/fb clickbait is a cheap and easy way to generate interaction online because it’s easy to play to stereotypes, bias and nostalgia.
When you have no interest in being an authority or credible t’s better for your analytics to get prices, stats, etc. incorrect because it does all this:
-
The turbonormies comment saying how it’s fake/scams/bullshit/etc.
-
The people that had this stuff when they were 5 comment “I had this” “better dig up these cards”
-
The handful of people that actually know what they’re looking at just can’t help themselves and need to write an essay on fb correcting the video and arguing with people in the comments.
-
All the laugh reacts.
It’s all in the aim of getting more interaction which equals more advertising dollars.
