@smpratte , I think it’s understandably frustrating when a card you wanted suddenly spikes and makes it less obtainable or harder to get. I don’t think it necessarily translates to ownership. Speaking for myself. I get anxious sometimes when I see certain cards I want go up in price because I suddenly have to shift gears in certain collecting habits or other spending habits depending on priorities. There’s a bit of frustration right now with Aquapolis and Skyridge going up in value. It’s great for the sellers but the would-be buyers are a bit frustrated. It’s just part of the natural cycle of the hobby. Most get over it or make new goals. I can’t recall anyone saying anything like, “That was supposed to be MY card!” that would translate objectively to a sense of false ownership. I think it’s just vented frustration. XD
It would be cool. In fact, I want to know if Ryan Renolds has his own collection as well for the same reasons.
@azulryu, Oh yeah for sure! That happens to everyone. Its just people who get angry at someone willing to spend more on an item. Or someone who doesn’t want to sell at the last sold price. These patterns have improved as the hobby matures, but they were rife years ago.
Either way most Pokemon cards are sub $100. Like 90% of them. That isn’t going to change anytime soon!
and if it did, Pokemon would shit shit out another 100+ card set the following year. But more to the point, there isn’t a such thing as an unaffordable set card. Even most of the 1st ed base cards can be found for under $100. The most expensive set card in the hobby is BIN for 1136 on ebay right now and you can find it even cheaper at a lower or similar grade pretty easily. Now if you want all PSA10’s, that’s entitlement based on condition, not a collector conundrum about having your own copy.
