My yearlong task of clearing out the Japanime storeroom is finally starting to wind down. I’ve managed to find new homes for most of the Pokemon cards and toys that had been sitting in there for the past 20 or so years. It was rather exciting when I first began opening the long-sealed cardboard boxes, as each one yielded Poke-treasures from the past.
But now there are few boxes left to open, and few rediscoveries to be made. Another box, another half-dozen “Best Collection” CDs or Erika starter decks or VS booster packs. Ho-hum.
Today, however, I opened an unmarked carton and — lo and behold! — came across a really cool example of old-school Pokemon art that I hadn’t remembered. It’s a rule sheet for an expansion pack from the defunct Pura-Koro dice game. Seeing this classic artwork makes me nostalgic for those heady days of the hobby. My collection might be going, going, gone, but the wonderful memories remain all mine.
Have a look for yourself and see if you don’t agree!
