Im gonna be learning how to drive soon! Pretty excited because now instead of awkwarding waiting for my mom to stop talking to the lady that we havent seen in 5 years, I can go to the local pokemon store with my mom and do the same thing!
Also, I’m gonna get a job soon! Exciting, I know right? Corporate labor and hard earned paper is now up my alley, so I’ll be earning just as much as you guys (not really.) I’m just excited that I’m finally growing up and being able to say it to something other than my black fan that just blasts air
Very exciting. I haven’t driven for almost 6 years so miss that feeling very much. As hard as it is, try to remember every car that passes you isn’t challenging you to a race.
Good luck on the new job. Still, at 35 years old, outside of my daughter’s birth and spending my time with her and my wife, there’s no better day than payday!
In my experience the fear passes pretty quickly and is replaced with a desire to race everyone that passes you. It’s especially prevalent when beaten Honda Civics cruise past. Word of warning.
Good luck and congrats! Always remember a good work ethic takes you places! And save save save, my dude i cant tell you how many times i wished i had started saving money sooner rather than later.
Big life changes ahead. Drive safe and work hard! I have so many awesome memories of being a kid with no adult responsibilities, but being an adult is pretty awesome too. Making discretionary income and driving anywhere you want is freedom I try not to take for granted. Enjoy!
Is this why whenever I pass people in my 2004 Honda Civic minding my own business, they all of a sudden decide they want to drive fast and pass me back
Good for you @Vertemes! Such a cool time in your life. Enjoy the heck out of learning how to drive and work hard! It sounds like the classic advice you get from the older folks in the room, but it really is true: hard work always pays off. And on top of the monetary aspect and newfound independence, it’ll make you a more resilient and strong individual. Once you get that, it’s hard to be stopped.
The feeling you get when you pass your driving test and for the very first time get to dive somewhere on your own is amazing. It’s a feeling of freedom that you won’t have known until you do this. Fun times ahead for you! Drive safe
Oh yeah, another thing: I’m also using my father figures car. He passed away in 2020, and I think it would be great if I could share one more milestone with him.
Wow congrats! I absolutely understand your satisfaction, I was so scared to drive (I still fear the highway lol), but when I overcame this I experienced a sense of freedom that I never had. It’s a big big step in someone life.
Like you, I can’t wait to get a job: I totally get your enthusiasm, good luck!
Thank you all @mrbubbles@decoypalmette@codytcas@pfm@D3F14NC3 and EVERYONE ELSE for sending me these supportive messages. I now truly believe that this is one of the most tight knit forums on the internet. Thank you guys!
