JP Set Trademarks & Schedule 2025/2026

Not for nothing but TPCi posted their 411 on mega evolution and made a point of reminding people rayquaza doesnt have/need a keystone

Update, two options for the future of MEGA sets:

  • The usual pattern of main expansions (expansion pack) followed up by a subset expansion (enhanced expansion pack)

  • A possibility where there are only main expansions (expansion pack)
    • Charizard and Rayquaza are usually set mascots of main expansions
    • Black Bolt & White Flare set a new precedent where main expansions can be experimental
    • With the exception of dual sets, main expansions tend to be larger e.g. 100+ cards, ~30 AR/SR/SAR/UR
    • Inferno X will still likely be used for the September sealed battle tournament

  • Both scenarios deny the possibility of a High Class Pack for the final half year of Scarlet & Violet
    • Battle Partners, Heat Wave Arena, The Glory of Team Rocket and Black Bolt & White Flare will see heightened reprint waves instead
    • Potentially a High Class Pack: Best of MEGA at the end of 2025-2026 tcg season, as a throwback to the very first High Class Pack: Best of XY

The next trademarks, MEGA Dream ex (MEGAドリームex) and Abyss Eye (アビスアイ)

  • MEGA Dream ex earmarks the MEGA and ex mechanics, characteristic of High Class Pack sets
    • Ultra Shiny GX
    • TAG TEAM GX Tag All Stars
    • Shiny Star V
    • VMAX Climax
    • VSTAR Universe
    • Shiny Treasure ex
    • Terastal Festival ex

Thanks to @DragonClasher bringing this up, there is a possibility that MEGA Dream ex will be this December’s set but it will be a hybrid reprint of this year’s Owner’s SV sets and MEGA sets

  • The last time Dream was used in a set name was SM11b Dream League, the origin of Character Rares
  • SV9 Battle Partners was essentially a spiritual successor to Dream League and VMAX Climax, but with the Owner’s Pokémon mechanic
    • Also a good opportunity for Steven’s Metagross ex and Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex to be reprinted with SAR
  • Like previous years, sets will be reprinted up until the fall decks
    • Last year was the Stellar Ceruledge ex & Stellar Sylveon ex decks → SV8a Terastal Festival ex
    • This year we will have the Mega Gengar ex & Mega Diancie ex decks in October
    • Mega ex from M1L Mega Brave & M1S Mega Symphonia will also likely be reprinted
  • SV era Owner’s Pokémon ex are getting English promos with alternative artwork (Fall Tins), so they might end up in this year’s High Class Pack
  • Probably the biggest indicator, is that the card format between SV era and MEGA era has not changed

  • The trademarks Ninja Spinner, Storm Emeralda and Abyss Eye will likely be PLZA sets from October onwards

The next end of year reprint set should have these 2 cards in it

TPC doesn’t make these for Japan, and they certainly won’t reprint Stellar cards with an SR in the next High Class set. Korea often gets the best of both JP and TPCi which means TPCi will likely release it in their final Prismatic Evolutions product, Premium Figure Collection (September 26)

I figured English would get them in the figure collection. So no Japanese release for these? Interesting

It follows the same trend as these, all full art/gold promos from Premium/Tournament Collection boxes and all missing in JP
