Japanese LE 3,000 Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon VMAX promos

I don’t know why I’m just seeing this, but this is hilarious. :joy: I’m curious what the standard USD price will be per card. My guess would be in the $500 range. Who knows.
Who knows if they’ll come to English. The Original 3 Eeveelutions alt/special arts aren’t in Evolving skies. I’m curious as to of English will be getting promo/collection boxes with he alt arts (V or VMAX (or even both) ) as promos.

@tromboneguy360, Hopefully they are just available, I think there’s going to be tons of demand and Japan can be very picky about letting cards escape from the country. I’m hoping it’ll be a Gold Star situation where the Japanese versions are more valuable & rare compared to their English counterparts. I think the Kanto V Alt Arts will be coming in a future set, the VMAX promos will be in Evolving Skies

Hoping the 3 cards are released in English. If so, it will make the Japan prices slightly less crazy.

Would be nice to get the original 3 in English. I’d assume if we did, it would be as promos or specific boxes for sure. Decent cost to boot. We’ll see I guess.

We are in uncharted territory. I personally think these cards will be closer to $1-$1.5k range each. I think people will get stupid with them. I am planning on trying to pick them up ASAP when they hit the market because I believe the market will undervalue the FOMO that will ensue once they are out there.

Everyone wants to get that _next_ “amazing strike price” of a new lottery/participation/whatever card. The Charizard trophy cards from just before COVID Japan started at what $10k for both? Jesus. I know it’s not apples to apples but …

HR Charizard VMAX from Champion’s Path didn’t affect the HR Competition winner’s prize card at all, despite there being over 5k PSA 10s

Even if they are released in English, it doesn’t change the Japanese lottery set population. Rarity sells

I’ll be getting this set when it comes out too. I’m not sure how the demand for these will compare to the Charizard HR contest cards, which was actually low in the beginning. Hoping to get a set for 3000 usd

Im an Eeveelutions collector but if these are more than 1k per piece then I won’t bother. Let’s hope they start at 500 so I can buy a set

I disagree. An English release doesn’t change the Japanese population, but it does affect the popularity/desirability.

Example:

If these promos are only printed in Japanese, they are a must have for me. I will do my best to pay the high price to obtain them.

If they are also printed in English, the Japanese promos are a nice to have for me, but I will not pay crazy high prices, since I already have the artwork. So that is one less collector bidding on these promos, thus driving down the price. Now make that same statement for most Eeveelution collectors who are not willing to pay crazy high prices for cards.

Doesn’t work that way with lottery promos, especially Japanese Eeveelution lottery promos. The buyer pool is so big and so deep that I can guarantee one Western collector dropping out will have zero effect on the price. In the high-level market for these cards, people aren’t concerned about where they can get the same type of artwork. They want the rarity and exclusivity and that is what sells. The fact that there is a regular Computer Error card does nothing to drive down the price of the virtually identical Kamex Mega Battle card.

The SR Charizard V promo doubled in price after the English one was released. Obtaining a copy in a different language may satisfy you, but there are more than enough collectors who that doesn’t matter to one bit.

Demand for cards will drop but price may not drop.

Especially when people who dropped out do not influence the marginal market price of the promos.

Suppose that the promos cost $3000 in the market and I am someone who is only willing to pay $2500 in the first place, whether I drop out or not do not affect the market price. Price will only drop when enough people who are initially willing to pay $3000 now disappear. These are typically the rarity chasers so I think they will still chase the lottery versions.

I have almost 10 japanese people enter the lottery for me so I’m praying Arceus will bless me to pick up the cards for cheap. Either way the Jolteon is def a must have grail card for my Jolteon collection. $500 would be an instant buy if that’s what they’ll be going for

Wouldn’t be surprised if they start off at $2k each like the EBD 397/SM-P Lillie. Demand is too high for special art cards this year, especially if it’s limited to 3000

That’s the Chinese release which will be tournament prize cards. It will probably be a lot less than the Japanese copy too since local events are still very limited in Taiwan and HK.

Chinese TCG has been going ham with tournaments for the past year trying to get more people to play. Charizard VMAX HR Fight competition prize cards (HR GX, SR V, gold tag team GX, HR VMAX), Extra Regulation Challenge Day prize cards (FA Cynthia, Lillie, Guzma) and now the Eevee Evolutions Fight winner cards (SA Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon VMAX).

I really love Hasuno’s art and OKACHEKE made one of my favourite SR cards this year. No way I can complete an artist collection now lmao.

Stunning artwork but no doubt will be tough ones to get hold of.

Curious to know people’s thoughts on this alt art set now that the Hong Kong promos are being being priced from £1000 - £11,000 on eBay and following the news that they will be released in English.

Are Japanese & Hong Kong prices likely to stay high due to rarity or drop now that demand may shift to the cheaper English release?

I said this before but my opinion was dismissed. A massive English release does have a small effect on the limited Japanese release. If they were never released in English, I would be willing to pay $1,500 for the Japanese set. But since English will get them, I will only buy Japanese ones at $1000 or less for the set. Just an example on prices, not saying that is what they will go for. If they are $1,500 or above, that means I would not be a buyer, thus one less person driving demand, thus lowering auction prices since I won’t be bidding
