Hey I have a 1st Ed base charizard art. 21.000g
I can’t get photos to Insert so here’s an imgur link below.
I know 21.1g is for sure heavy? I’m too scared to sell a possible heavy pack and I’m too scared to open it.
Most likely no.
Maybe? Probably not?
Not much help eh?
If you want to sell it just post a picture of the weight, people love to gamble. There´s certainly a chance but by no means guaranteed.
Sounds like quite the predicament. Another reason i don’t buy single packs. If I was doing sealed I’d have to do whole booster box. Easier said then done with base set or Many other old sets. Hmm I can’t even think of advise for this senerio. What was your original intention?
From what i understand you can’t really tell for sure 100% weather a pack is truly heavy or not unless you are the one that bought the booster box it came from and weighed all of the packs inside for comparison. The heavier the packs can give you better odds at pulling a holo for sure but you can not guarantee it just from 1 single pack (unless its super heavy)
If you are going to sell it i would not state that its heavy but i would include the picture of the weight so people know what they are buying and can determine for themselves weather they think a holo is inside or not.
Out of curiosity, is there a set amount of heavy packs per booster or does it vary by the box?
12 out of 36 packs (on average) are heavy and have a holo in all WOTC boxes
I know several packs that contained Holos at 20.97 and 20.95 there is no hard rule. I have guaranteed holo packs straight from a box that was opened and they were 21.03.
if thats heavy to you, you should do some push ups…
I would probably sell it to be honest ![]()
if you know the weight of the other packs that came from that box, then you will have a better answer. that pack might or might not be “heavy” since that weight is in a grey area. if you are not in a crunch for money, then opening the pack might be a good option. it would be an experience of a lifetime opening up a 1st edition. if it is heavy, then you get the nice holo. if it is light, you might still get big uncommon and common cards to soften your loss. i don’t think you should think too much about it.
As others have said, you can’t say 100%.
21 and over has always been heavy for me on every base set pack (unlimited, shadowless, 1st ed) I’ve ever opened.
If you decide to sell it, be sure to capture a photo with the weight of the pack. That’s how you sell these in 2020 to protect yourself and the community.
