If weighs were on the case it needs to come straight from a box unbreaking at cgc and into the slabs - with heavy and light labeled
I will never buy a heavy pack that’s submitted individually and slabbed. Next thing you know people will begin injecting fast drying liquids into light packs using ultra fine syringes to quadruple their money.
As far as damage goes, if we can be comfortable with blisters I think we can be comfortable with cases that don’t require folding of sides too
The graded pack holder was made for wax packs, which seal by folding over onto themselves. The opposite are the Pokémon foil packs, which come up to a crimped edge. Sports cards and Pokémon cards are basically the same size so the card holder fits. However, the packs are different and PSA can’t be fucked to make a new holder for something that would be a very very tiny portion of their business. Why they accepted the packs in the first place and straight up damage them to fit them in those holders I have no idea but that’s the origin.
There’s a whole slew of problems with labeling the packs as heavy or light. First is determining what would officially be heavy or light which while the community has a general consensus, packs in the parameters of heavy have ended up not having holos and vice versa. And of course people attempting to ‘weigh down’ their light packs for profit. All in all too much effort and hassle for a company that cant even change the slab design to not damage the packs they cram in there.
yes, you are right. i was giving humanity too much credit. all it takes is a little bit to tip the scale. wait, you could be doing this right now with these raw packs, too… hmm…
With ungraded packs there’s some tendency to open and if anyone does that their reputation will evaporate overnight. With graded however…the guy could get away scot free very easily
Because of the flimsiness of foil pack ends, it’ll take something really imaginative to display them nicely and not cause damage. Maybe some kind of a sleeve?
What about another strip of plastic at the top and bottom of the packs with a slit in both allowing the edge pack ends to be threaded through the slits while the cards in the pack remain in place along the plastic strips without moving?
Unpopular opinion here, but I really don’t mind the PSA sealed pack cases. To me, the artwork of the pack art is all I care about and I don’t mind if the silver ends are folded.
I never understood how with Pokémon being as big as it is, that psa doesn’t make cards specifically for packs without bending the pack. Also why they don’t have cases specifically made for Pokémon cards (sometimes the card shakes in the case)
I’ve recently picked up two Japanese booster packs and for one of them I chose to pay over 25% more for a loose pack instead of a PSA 9 copy. I’m in no way a booster pack collector but I really don’t like the way PSA fold packs - especially when you consider that in doing so they often end up hiding key info like the pack’s barcode and whether it’s 1st Edition or unlimited.
I were ever going to get booster packs graded I’d stay away from PSA. PSA have basically dug themselves into a hole because if they ever introduce cases which don’t involve bending the packs they’d have to award all the packs they’ve damaged a lower grade.
