I can understand this for sure.
I have just recently adjusted one of my bigger goals. I originally wanted to complete the Masaki set in PSA 9 and am currently at 2/5. However, after seeing so many 9s with corner dents, the grade itself kinda lost its initial meaning to me.
When you ask a seller for more pictures, they either block you or send a couple of closeup pictures with bad lighting where you cannot see anything anyway. One might call it an added collecting challenge; I call it just a headache.
So, I decided to switch to PSA 6 instead, as they look equally as good as the nines and are often whitening-free. In the end, the Masaki mark is part of the history, so why not just have it come with the card? Plus, the grades will then be 69696 once I complete the set. Yeah.
Very often⦠just recently decided to sell off most of my old collection and just focus on small custom sets with art that I really like. Think the only full sets I kept are Hidden Fates, Dream League, and Southern/Rainbow islands, and Character Rare/Trainer/Galarian Galleries.
Also, for the first time in probably four years, I donāt care to have them all graded, and have gone back to binders. Just nicer to look at, takes up less space, and I find it easier to not worry about potential premiums for high grade/condition. I just go for near mint, and save any obvious damage/wear/miscuts, call it a day. lol
Didnāt you sell the Extra Battle Day and Masked Royal cards? Or did you mean English FA Supporters?
I really like this perspective. Anything tying a vintage card to its conceptualization, distribution, etc. is pretty neat in my eyes.
Iāve replaced them with their Traditional Chinese versions. In the past I collected all English and Japanese exclusive artworks. Now all English, and all non-English exclusive artworks.
