Obstruction errors drop it down by a point, and with no other issues this will be graded a 9.
BGS>PSA>CGC that’s my understanding, but also some people are saying that PSA is getting a little more strict on vintage
would you say this is a psa thing or will cgc also dock it the same way
and with that said, is it possible then that BGS is the best company to go with since even with an 8,5/9 surface score I could still achieve a 9.5 overall
BGS grades are the same as PSA and CGC. I reccomend PSA and if your not happy, recrack and submit to the grading company of your choice.
I’m a believer that the card will tell you which grading company to go with.
BGS is definitely not the same they literally have a weighted graded system
Anyways
It’s a charizard no rarity symbol card this is why i feel the need to make this thread
It’s in shockingly good condition… as in the edges and corners are crisp without whitening which is impossibly rare to find
Yes its off center like the majority of these cards… its fat to the right. However, when measuring it the card is 44.67/55.33 so it is potentially in the margins and top to bottom is actually 50/50.
so with this blotch here on the backside i need to make a big decision. I’m think with PSA to avoid them entirely right now
I know PSA does state " but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn’t impair the overall appeal of the card" on their gem mint grading standards but given the card that this is, I dont believe they will allow it. I also dont want to pay that fat upcharge if it’s almost certain I will end of cracking the card and sending it elsewhere
I was hoping to hear that cgc is more lenient with this type of issue. The grading companies are different. for instance psa tends to be lenient with silvering whereas CGC docks you hard
So I just want to make an informed decision here
You have to ask yourself 2 questions:
Do I want to grade with this company?
if yes:
Will I be happy with the grade I get from this company?
It’s your choice who to grade with, so if your happy with it, go for it.
If you’re looking for the highest grade possible go with CGC is more likely to get a 9.5 or 10 with them.
Please avoid weighing in if you don’t have the experience. This spec is not going to make it a 9
As pfm said, no, a small obstruction like this will not bump a grade from a 10 to a 9.
If this is a Charizard No Rarity Symbol, you are unlikely to get a 10. The value of that card is very high, which will lead to PSA being extra vigilant for Grade Guarantee (insurance) purposes before handing out a 10. Expect a PSA 9 as the best case scenario.
If you are unhappy with a PSA 9, feel free to shop it around at other grading companies.

It’s genuinely so over.
Cooked
I can never give advice again.
haha it’s all good honestly
Thanks for the feedback
I dont expect 10s i know the card I’m dealing with here. With that said given the condition i would be happy with a 9.5/9/8.5/8
A 7 would probably lead me to break some stuff at home though lol followed with a resub
I’m going to give CGC a try for the first time …
