Help With Getting PSA-10's on ENGLISH Cards!

So I’ve been wondering about peoples experiences with English cards and PSA-10’s. All of these cards were the ones I sent from my last order. I was expecting ALL of the Ancient Origins cards to come back 10’s. And I was hoping for a 10 on a FA Charizard aswell. Which is likely NEVER going to happen. As I’ve sent like 15 of them so far…

54 1 24742698 NEAR MINT-MINT 8 2014 Pokemon XY Flashfire 100 Full Art/Charizard EX Holo Card

54 2 24742699 MINT 9 2014 Pokemon XY Flashfire 100 Full Art/Charizard EX Holo Card

54 3 24742700 MINT 9 2014 Pokemon XY Flashfire 100 Full Art/Charizard EX Holo Card

54 4 24742701 MINT 9 2014 Pokemon XY Flashfire 100 Full Art/Charizard EX Holo Card

55 1 24742702 MINT 9 2015 Pokemon XY Ancient Origins 85 Full Art/M Sceptile EX Card

56 1 24742703 MINT 9 2015 Pokemon XY Ancient Origins 89 Full Art/Hoopa EX Card

57 1 24742704 MINT 9 2015 Pokemon XY Ancient Origins 94 Full Art/Lugia EX Card

58 1 24742705 MINT 9 2015 Pokemon XY Ancient Origins 96 Full Art/Primal Kyogre EX Card

59 1 24742706 MINT 9 2015 Pokemon XY Ancient Origins 98 Full Art/M Rayquaza EX Card

I’m thinking that there is one grader at PSA that is a straight up dick. Because not getting a single 10 is just dumb. What other other peoples experiences on getting Gem-Mint 10’s on English Exs, FA’s, Secrets, or whatever else…?

Don’t even get me started on the dragons exalted f/a Rayquaza… At least the charizards are like $10 each ungraded :,( lol

They hate us man.

Just send in cards with the least amount of whitening on the back, and with not-so-perfect centering. I’ve noticed that cards that are noticeably off-center (nothing extreme of course) tend to be the ones that come back as 10s. That’s just from my experience though.

as you said you were expecting all 10s. I’ve gotten more english PSA 10s than anyone and spend more time looking for the best ones among several cases, tins and purchases. I never expect all 10s or even anything above 20%. Hell even 10% is amazing when it comes to the newer english cards.

While I do believe there are certain graders, particularly the newer ones, who are hesitant to give out 10s because they are new. There’d be no way that they wouldnt be self critical thinking if they were giving too many 10s. Taking aside my own bias there is a discussion on the forum about production. We are starting to think every other set or every so often the card production/printing is done by two companies. One of the companies has higher production quality and would explain why certain sets grade better than others. Phantom Forces and Roaring Skies are great examples if you look at the number of PSA 10 % to the number submitted. There’s also the other factor of popularity that has to be looked at. Grading newer english cards is more popular, even if people are going to japanese for 10s, and the high prices are bringing in sellers as well.

I understand your frustration and I can sympathize along with many others. However we’ve all tried discussing this subject with you before. Your attitude towards grading. Your language use like All, Expect, Deserve, What wrong with them, Not giving me etc. Maybe instead of asking the question you are asking maybe ask different questions. How has everyone else’s experiences been with X set. I can’t seem to get this card in a 10. How’s everyone else grades that came back during X time.

All of the Ancient Origins cards had ZERO EDGE-WEAR at all. They were PERFECT! :sob:

If your so good at getting 10’s on English cards, then please explain your self here. Any extra help would be great. Otherwise I might decide to stop collecting English cards all together… Either that or stop PSA Grading cards.

Im trying to help you by helping you to understand. There’s probably not much your doing wrong other than your attitude and expectation. If you expect that all the cards that you send in will get 10’s I can’t help you because then you’ll expect to get 100+% PSA 10s.

It’s like trying to explain climate change to people who dont believe it in the first place. There’s been tons of scientific data, summits, journal articles etc but yet people refuse to people believe there’s a problem. You can’t help people to understand something if there minds already made up.

It’s like the chinese tea cup proverb (or movie line). I cannot fill your cup with it already being full. I know it sounds like im being a dick but I’m sincerely trying to help. You just dont want to understand.

I usually pull several of the same cards. And spend time looking them over and sending in the best looking ones for grading. What sets have better chances in English for PSA 10’s other than Phantom Forces and Roaring SKies?

How was the centering on the front and back of those you sent? Maybe it was that. I have a pretty Gem Mint-looking Primal Kyogre from AO that I hope gets a 10 lol.

I need to wait until Monday to get them back in the mail. I’m nearly positive that the centering was just about perfect aswell on all the Ancient Origins cards.

That I can answer with certainity. Plasma Blast and Plasma Freeze had some of the best production. They had some of the highest PSA 10% ratios of any set.

Also please focus on what I said about set production possibly coming from two companies. IF this is the case it really does explain
why certain sets (the ones you and I mentioned) grade higher.

Man this reminded me that my english full art game is lacking. Though i usually only shoot for 9s on those because of the sheer difficulty of getting 10s on them. I commend hisoka on his patience with getting 10s on all of these full arts. That takes some true dedication.
