Help on valuing OC Shadowless

What do you think is a good value for this? Should it just be based on the PSA 6 grade? I had an offer of $225 if it came back an 8OC :upside_down_face:. Thanks for the input!

Its unusual for OC to come back as 6, does it have a crease?

Nope I’d personally grade it an 8

Or solid 7

@shizzlemetimbers I’ve seen this grade a few times. It probably doesn’t have a crease, but the edge/corner wear probably made the grader think it wasn’t worthy of an OC 8. From what I remember, it’s usually a 9 quality card that gets an OC 8 and a strong 9/10 that gets an OC 9. Maybe the grader just thought the wear was too much

Did you check the ā€œqualifierā€ box when you filled out the submission form?

In the past I’ve had cards come back with similar results to yours. Many of mine were pack fresh and notably OC, but received a low grade and no qualifier, so I’m curious what, if any, effect the qualifier check box has had with other people’s subs.

I used Ludkins and didn’t fill anything out

As you can see you’re supposed to leave the checkbox checked for normal cards, and unchecked for cards with qualifiers. Now I don’t think denoting qualifiers and non-qualifiers will always work as it hasn’t always worked for me, as I mentioned, even when the cards are mint and OC.

Here’s a copy of the description for the submission form:

ā€œCards having significant flaws will receive ā€œqualifiedā€ grades (see definitions below). If you select this box and your card is determined to have a qualifier, your card will be graded with a lower straight grade. For example, what would be graded an ā€˜8 OC’ might be graded a straight '6.'

* Please note: Some qualifiers may not be removed.

PSA defines the following Qualifiers as:

OC (Off Center):
When the centering of the card falls below the minimum standard for that grade will be designated ā€œOC.ā€ PSA determines centering by comparing the measurements of the borders from left to right and top to bottom. The centering is designated as the percent of difference at the most off-center part of the card. A 5% leeway is given to the front centering minimum standards for cards which grade NM 7 or better. For example, a card that meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 60/40 off-center on the front automatically meets the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9. If a card meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 65/35 off-center on the front, it may be deemed to meet the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9 if the eye appeal of the card is good.ā€

Thanks for the info @jkanly, appreciate it

How about if front centering is within standards but back centering is off? I have a PSA 9 that has been tucked away for 4 years and after reviewing the collection noticed how 85/15 the back is. Oddly the front is great. PSA only seems to speak to the front.

As long as the card is better than 90/10 centering on the back it’s still within Mint 9 parameters.
