Heavy 1st edition base set blister packs

@garyis2000 how many packs do you think of 1st ed base you have opened compared to PSA 10 Charizards you have personally graded from those if you don’t mind sharing ?

To give you an idea I had the opportunity recently to purchase a heavy 1st edition blister for $4000. However, I declined since I was looking for a heavy loose pack. A heavy blister imo would demand more of a premium just because. I’m looking to buy a heavy loose pack for around $3500 and I know a couple of other efour members have said they would buy in at $3000.

The older and more scarce these packs become, the less of a correlation they will have with their potential average pull rate. For example, 1986 fleer or 1979 opc packs go beyond the “average pull percentage value”. Even vintage mtg, which is probably the most parallel is the same.

Why would the OP buy a blister if he was just planning to open it anyway?

No idea how many packs but I’d put the average holos that got 10s overall about 25%. There were noticeable differences between thick’s and thins though but that’s another story.

Idk i can’t read people’s minds. Just said if you do open it record it, would be a cool video

I would definitely be opening it.

why would i buy a heavy and keep it sealed?

would just buy a light blister if i was just keeping it sealed?

only one heavy blister on ebay, id rather buy multiple

@smpratte, yeah exactly right ! the way i see it is,

the difference between the pack cost and the return, is the price ill pay to open a heavy 1st ed blister pack

Why would you pay 5000.00 for a heavy blister when you can pay less for a heavy non blister pack? It’s the exact same thing.

Well obviously i don’t have the chance to buy a heavy non blister pack …

Not like they are sold at target.

Neither are the 1st Base blisters lol.

Heavy packs pop up every now and again on eBay. More often than heavy blisters I think everyone here would agree.

Well the point is that the blisters are available right now, wheres the alternative?

Hey listen. I’m not knocking it. This hobby needs that mentality. You make it better for all of us…as does the OP:)

Im not here for a therapy session,

was asking for advice on a fair price to pay.

I’m the seller of the heavy pack on eBay and could offer you 2 for $7,500. I’d be fine with receiving the payment in USD. In the past I received good offers, with the highest one being 3,750 EUR. I was looking for at least 4,000 at the time.

Regarding the packs. I bought the Pokemon inventory of a sports-cards store in the United States years ago. There were a few hundred packs inside their boxes and a 1st Edition Base Set box was among them. They have been stored well.

I’m exclusively into sealed product the last years and didn’t open any. If they stay with me and the financial part of the hobby won’t be so critical in the future, I may open them one day for the experience. At the time I’m willing to let them go.
