Agreed. There has been too many raw copies sold lately that have graded higher than this one, if I’m throwing around a chest of cash for a copy I’ll wait till an 8 or 9 appear on auction, or wait until another raw copy magically appears in Japan.

The grade could be a factor. These are hard to find but not impossible. The owner of the 10 illustrator also has a PSA 9, and may have other copies too.

I’ve heard the lone 10 copy is extremely weak, and should be considered and priced as a 9 at best.

I haven’t seen it. My understanding is the owner has extremely deep pockets, like $100m+ net worth and wouldn’t be motivated by money to sell.

So…a 9 was traded for ~900k USD 2 months ago. CGC 8.5 Protostoise went for 360k USD last month. I think I’m going to go ahead and say the 7 illustrator ends up in the low 800s - 815, 000 USD.

It’ll probably be less but I figured it’d be interesting to see if whale money makes a splash again and pushes a 7 close to a 9 since they’re rare but not unobtainable cards. Plus, it’s a holy grail card so 800k for one doesn’t seem that crazy when considering what other collectibles are fetching these days.
