Guardians Rising: Another English set with 20+ secret rares

I really hope this is the most sarcastic post I’ve ever read, because if not, you come across like an elitist to be completely honest.

“My wallet cries harder than yours…”

For a start, I doubt you even know any of us, or what we do with our money etc.

I’ve never understood anyone who thinks they can tell anyone how they should feel. It’s immature and disrespectful.

Getting back to topic, this isn’t MTG, I’m really not sure why we are comparing the two TCG’s, because one has both a collector and player market, the other is completely dictated too by players.

The creep on chase cards is ridiculous for Pokemon. We are on track to triple what the previous era had on average.

MAn… I have to say.

I want the sets to get more rare and more.

The hyper rares makes me really happy.

I hope they make it so you get 1 hyper rare per CASE of booster boxes… This would make things really great. I think @swolepoke Mentioned something like this before the hyper rares were out.

Mass produce cards need to become rarer, so it makes it very difficult for people to complete the sets.

It will make the game so much funner, and we shall see those prices come up in cards for time to come… because atm there isnt much hope for growth in the future which pisses me off :sob: One thing that was great about the engrish cards was the shit quality, making it difficult as to get psa 10s… Now theyve upped the quality, and IM not liking this. That means theres going to be 2 many psa 10s of the new sets which is frustrating, and again makes the game easier and the growth expectation for value increase over time lower.

If the quality of the cards is going to increase and stay similar to evelutions, then the number of the Ultra and Hyper has to decrease always im going to have to throw things at people.

Think about what time were living in… Were living in a time where everyone is grading the sh** out of pokemon cards, so how are any of these set cards suppose to ever be rare… Its not like the base set when noone was grading them and every kid was taking a terd and whiping there crack with dem at school. Times are changed man, and for growth, we need RARITY! We need a 1st edition print for collectors… if we dont get one, these cards are not going to be a good investment for the future, and there not going to be a staple piece for peoples collections either as they will be to common.

But the hyper rare was a great step in the right direction.

NOw, if they can make Ultra Rare into pokemon again instead of inneficient golden Blow Dryers like this one:

Then make them a little bit more rarer then they are, and the hyper rare even rarer… THen will be talking! All is needed then is the 1st ed print and were set

I don’t know about you guys but my blow dryer didnt work very well.

I just dont see that someone could feel that way for such a reason… move on to a different part of the hobby if the sets are too big for you… My quote saying my wallet cries more was specifically because of what I just recently bought… if you followed me or have ever looked at my threads I guess youd know why I said that part lol. And you saying I dont know any of you lol. I know a few people here and have met personally and am freinds with alot of people here. Don’t make me laugh bud

This is an awesome idea just like mtg lottery cards right?? 1 per few cases tho… Thats pretty damn rare. theyd have to cost atleast 100 a piece for such a rarity  … damn ultra ball would be like a 400 dollar card or more

@pokemonmaster556 - I think Frost made the thread, and people in the thread are agreeing, because it’s people who have really enjoyed collecting and completing sets up until now. If you like doing something and then that thing becomes increasingly difficult to do then of course you are going to want to complain and vent about it. Coming into a thread and belittling people for venting their frustrations isn’t really the best thing to do.

Someone could very easily turn it around on you and say you should stop complaining about money you chose to spend.

Don’t make you laugh? Mate, anyone reading your elitist attitude is probably laughing at you.

Are you some kind of fucking hero because you bought a $16k card? Lol

I don’t think he needed to flash the fact he has bought the infamous 16k card. At the same time he has a reasonable point of moving to a different part of the hobby if collecting current sets is no longer enjoyable. Personally my opinion on the current era is one of enjoyment. As someone whose played a lot of tcgs I appreciate the multiple rarities they now have and the art is quite nice but I see how for some it marks the dawn of their decline in interest.

I understand your sentiment, but the main point @pokemonmaster556 is trying to make is that because they are able to drop lots of money on something, this in turn means others that don’t have the same disposable money can’t have an opinion. In reality that’s extremely short sighted and shows a lack in ability to understand anything outside their existence.

If people want to vent their anger on an internet thread, they shouldn’t feel bad because other people with more money tell them they should.

But what would I know, I’m only offering an opinion :joy:

To be fair, alot of cards arnt about money, IF you dont put in the effort, then you will get little results no matter what money you have. The old school ex cards are cheaper then the modern cards, but 90% of them are damaged to hell, so its about scoring the gem ones, and theres a much greater feeling achieving that, then buying new sets that will have a pop of 10 billion in psa 10 a week after release and you will probably spend the same amount… Sure it will take longer but it will be much more rewarding, and any achievement, whether its music, art, sports has never been done overnight or with little effort… The english still had that going for it when the quality was shit… but now?

Ide much rather have a difficult card to get for a much cheaper price like the old school ex for example, then one you throw a bunch of money at one. But when it comes to cards like 1st ed shadowless, No rarity and Generally just alot of english cards in GEM MINT 10, your gonna have to have some heavy patients getting a good deal… and if that ever happens and you do, then thats a gran achievement and the feeling of achieving something difficult is much more rewarding… LIKE IM TALKING… EPIC AMOUNTS OF DOPIEMEING RUSHINGTONS!.. Because when does that actually happen? I know of basically noone achieving this… there has been very few deals… aND so earning your own 10s on difficult cards is a much more rewardment. And thats the thing with these new sets. They need to be more challenging because there just not atm and so theres no reward in collecting them. A 1st edition print would make things amazing for us now, and the future. I feel like people are just waiting for the price to drop, as it will, and there not going for those cards… The drive is not there.
AND PLEASE… PLEASE… NOT A 1ST EDITION PRINT WITH AN UNLIMITED PRINT THAT IS 4 TIMES SMALLER :unamused:
AND PLEASE… PLEASE… NOT A 1ST EDITION PRINT WITH NO UNLIMITED PRINT LIKE CP6… :unamused:

NO!!! THIS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE… Part of the reason why The base 1st ed shadowless and shadowless and just WOTC sets in general was so successful was because of the way They did the damn print runs for collectors… 1st edition is 1st edition, and thats all there is to it!

And If people are having difficulty collecting the cards like Frost has said, then the quantity of the unlimited print run will be there for them when it starts leeking on ebay :sunglasses:

I dont think @pokemonmaster556 meant it the way your making it sound oz. His not an elitist, I would be proud of my card once i got it also. IT is a big achievement and he works hard for dem monies.

I just think things should be more harder, not easier because it will be better for the hobby overall, thats just my opinion though and is also something I believe will benefit collectors and business/investing for the future. IF frost and others arnt okay with the change, I can understand that to, but I can never ever think that way when it comes to this hobby or anything. I want things to be better, improove and things to be more challenging, always whats the point? its not about effort and hard work, and excitement of achieving something for yourself, and creating dem memories… I feel like this is missing in the new sets, and thats what people are really getting uppity about in the back of there minderbz.

I mean frost is the proof that people out there arnt even motivated enough to complete the sets the way they have them, because its basically tedious… Its like your just spending more money for something that your not sure is worth it… And what does that say about the growth and future of these sets?

This has been an episode of " The great Life Philosophies, Theories, Thoughts, Feelerbz & 2.3 cents of pokesynd "

Good opinions here. I’m also in that boat full of people who isn’t ready to spend hundreds of dollars for new master set on monthly basis ( pretty much what current release rate of sets feels ). Kinda shame because I genuinely like Alola region after countless hours of playing Sun&Moon, lots of good stuf there!

@pokemonmaster556 has good point however. Sometimes it’s just better to keep going and focus your attention on something which truly matters, that’s exactly what I’ll do and continue buying purely gen 1/2/3 products.

@pokemonmaster556 Also how does it feel to hold a PSA 10 1st Edition Shadowless Base Set Charizard?

You must feel powerful like God does when he holds a PSA 10 1st Edition Shadowless Base Set Charizard!

Also, so this comment is relevant I too feel the heavy financial pressure of what it takes to complete this new massive Sun And Moon sets. However I am going to just focus on the standard GX cards as they seem to be more affordable for me at least! I feel they would all look really good together in a binder!

I had to catch up 20 posts in the thread. I should’ve never mentioned Magic’s lottery card system.
But… Picking on fellow collectors because they have a smaller wallet keep spending money on 8 HR cards every set is just a weak move. Everybody fills in his/hers collection their own way. I’ve seen people mentioning they do not collect Reverse Holo versions of a set, which is their decision to make. Myself, I only want English, Japanese and Dutch cards in my collection. I do not care for French, Korean or Portuguese but I respect those people that go those extra miles to get the cards from every language they can get to finish their specific collections.

Personally; I like the hunt, I collect selectively and finding this one card (or in other collections; this one old 16-bit game) is more satisfying then just buying 10 lots a week just hoping to get lucky for that one card you might miss or can upgrade.

I don’t care how many crazy cards SM-GR will have, I’ll buy a box just for the fun of opening packs. Sell of what I don’t desire and hopefully invest that money back into my other searches.

I mean I think the “debate” in the thread is a little silly. From the title it seemed more like a discuss of the cards or something, than a debate over why people should or shouldn’t think it sucks.

If your main enjoyment comes from collecting entire sets then you are either upset over it being more difficult/expensive or happy that it is more difficult/more rare to have a master set

If you collect individual cards like I do, the more rare and whacky the better honestly

I know collectors in general are usually hyper organized and goal driven, but I’m not that way at all. I’m more fascinated with art, or rarity, or species, or even nostalgia than completing a large planned goal for myself. I know that is much more common, and I respect it, but it isn’t me.

I know I’m relatively a nobody, but still I am a collector and can enjoy larger sets

lmao bro. it feels very nice. And I’m not complaining about the price I spent in the damn card!! Tho it made me cry… only a little… look guys. I’m not picking on anyone with less income. I have alot of bills, have a gf and a little one I gotta worry about too. it’s all a headache! but I love collecting. I wouldn’t say I’m an elitist or rich… most certainly not… everyone collects at there own pace. I’d love to complete newer sets but they’re so beefy I just don’t have the money for psa cards and newer sets so I just crack a box every new release.

Just take it slow. if completing sets is your thing make it simple and collect the newer sets you REALLY LIKE. and if you don’t care much for that set than cherry pick… I’m offering suggestions… did I come off like a dick earlier with my previous statements?? yes I did. but I’m not always nice!

At the end of the day it’s a hobby so do what you love. if you feel that it’s too overwhelming then stop collecting… but we know you’ll be back after a month because you love this Pokemon Shit!! we all do. that’s why we’re here, we all have the same interest. At the end of the day I love y’all :kissing_heart:

Sound advice, that I think we all agree on

i like your attitude sir.

Your logic is flawless.

Theres 2 types of people in this world…

Syndi cans, and Syndi cants…

You sir are the first one… Ive decided.

I was watching this video the other day, and it was really funny. Im pretty sure people can disagree on an opinion without hating the other person as a human being… or cant they?
Besides the point, if you do not agree with my thinking, then i hate you all (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

A lesson to be learned:

Same thing goes with poke cards, must strive to destroy everything and everyone in your path to improve. Always destroy, always improve, always plan for something impossible.

You will be defeated smprattican… America will fall.
